The cabinets, rooms of the Château Vaux le Vicomte !!!

This is awesome, another reason to visit my belle France, in all its splendeurs!  A must to visit indeed.  Another wonderful memory of my dear late wife Martine, and I traveling in her native department the beauty is amazing.  I first came here in 1992 , and have been coming here regularly thereafter ; as well friend of the castle since 2004. This is a wonderful story and a beautiful castle still in private hands ! The Cabinet of Mme Fouquet by the valet room a door takes you to this room. They were decorated with mirror portraits but nothing is left today, There is a nice cabinet in lacquer of Japan closed at the time diamonds, jewerly and gold coins were kept. The Cabinet of Mme Fouquet or Mrs. Fouquet’s office is part of Mme Fouquet’s old apartment composed of an anteroom, a bedroom and a cabinet, these three rooms taking a view on the gardens. The sky that occupies the central part of the ceiling is modern; It is bordered by landscapes and winged women painted in the 17C. In the angles, a crenellated tower, a coat of arms of Mme, Fouquet, supports a squirrel. Above the fireplace, “l’Amour fixé” ou “la Beauté coupant les ailes de l’Amour pour qu’il demeure toujours auprès d’elle” or the love fixed or beauty cutting the wings of love so that it always remains with it, replica of the painting painted by Le Brun and representing Marie Madeleine de Castille that Fouquet had married in second marriage in 1651.

The French garden, the walking aisles, the pools and fountains, the statues, the majestic trees and the flower bosquets offer an idyllic setting for your walks. Between the paths which seem to stretch endlessly to the golden statue of Hercules and the flowered groves, these gardens alone are worth the detour. Carried out on a rectangular space of 33 ha, obeying a unique axis of 1500 meters, the grammar of the classic garden which it declined everywhere else the exercises and variations. The terraces surrounding the castle are decorated with flowers and boxwood embroidery and the following consists of lawns. This plant is embellished with surprises in the form of side escapes, illusions that handle vision and distances. And everywhere, water, in abundance, dormant or gushing, totaling 9 ha today divided into 24 basins (against 40 in 1661). Three centuries after its creation, nature had resumed its rights and destroyed the garden; As for the buildings, they seemed to be doomed to the demolishers when in 1875, Mr. Alfred Sommier bought the estate and restored it entirely. Its direct descendants, the Vogüé, strive to continue this work by sharing it with the public. The cabinet of Nicolas Fouquet or his office.  This piece whose original decor has disappeared to make way for a woodwork dating from 1767, has some copies of the books of the famous library of Superintendent Fouquet (27,000 volumes). Above the ebony cabinet, reproduction of the portrait Nain du Cardinal Granvelle (nain=dwarf) by Antonio Moro.

Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
