This is awesome, another reason to visit my belle France, in all its splendeurs! A must to visit indeed. Another wonderful memory of my dear late wife Martine, and I traveling in her native department the beauty is amazing. I first came here in 1992 , and have been coming here regularly thereafter ; as well friend of the castle since 2004. This is a wonderful story and a beautiful castle still in private hands ! Do see my other posts on the castle in my blog, A reminder, the Château Vaux le Vicomte is in the village of Maincy, Seine et Marne dept 77 of the Île de France region, of my belle France. Let me tell on older paper pictures now finally in my blog on the bedrooms, rooms of the Château Vaux le Vicomte !!! Hope you enjoy it as I.
The antichamber of Superintendent Fouquet is decorated with a ceiling painted with a scene representing a Hercules welcomed by Olympus. The medallions and panels adorning the arch represent the twelve labors of Hercules by Le Brun. Here he received his guests, At the center of the antichamber you see the big desk aka Mazarin with wood and filet of golden copper, a poem songe d’Adonis (dream of) by Jean de La Fontaine, and above the desk a portrait by Antonio Moro, Nain du Cardinal de Granvelle,(Dwarf of).

The antechamber of the Superintendent Fouquet, the first of the three rooms constituting the apartment of the superintendent Fouquet ,where are reproduced certain paintings which constituted the collection of Nicolas Fouquet: on one side of the front door: the l’ambassade de Venise en Turquie (Venitian school 16C), then on the other side and following: David and Bethsabée (Paolo Véronèse), Les juifs récoltant la manne dans le désert or the Jews collecting the manna in the desert (Nicolas Poussin), Persée and Andromède (Paolo Véronèse), the Circumcision (Vincidore), Venus and Love (Sustris). The ground is covered with braided rod mats which were of common use in the 17C and in large numbers in Vaux-le-Vicomte.
Over the years this antichamber room has gone thru some changes, these were: 1661 Antichamber of the apartment of the Superintendent Fouquet .1705 Room for the guests of the Marshal of Villars. 1767 Division and development in anteroom, room, wardrobe and reduced chair of apartment n ° 6 for guests of the Dukes of Praslin .1875
Vestibule, room and toilet office of Mr. Alfred Sommier .1908 Vestibule, Office, Service Piece of Mr. Edme Sommier, and 1984 Reconstitution of the antichamber of the Superintendent Fouquet.
On the 1st floor (2nd fl), you have Fouquet’s bedroom is the only room on the first floor to have retained its original decor. The rooms and the alcove are decorated with a trompe-l’oeil in the shape of a dome. Mme Fouquet’s apartment was entirely made up of mirrors and included an anteroom, a bedroom and a cabinet. The room and the anteroom were completely overhauled in the 18C. The cabinet contains on the ceiling an oval with a painting representing the sky; Mme Fouquet’s coat of arms is in the corners.
The chambre du roi or the king’s bedroom is unfinished: even if it is the most richly decorated room of the castle, Louis XIV never slept there. On the frieze of palmettes at the base of the cornice of the ceiling, scallops alternate with the squirrels, element of the coat of arms of the Fouquet, at the corners of this frieze of the palmettes represent a tower with three slots, coat of arms of Marie-Madeleine de Castile, second wife of Fouquet. At the angles of the stucco in the form of winged figures, helmeted angels, garlands framing the letters “F” (Fouquet) intertwined in silver shields; On the ceiling is a painting of the truth supported by time, and in the mirrors are represented the gods symbolizing the genius of Fouquet: Bacchus for abundance, Mars for value, Mercury for vigilance and Jupiter for power.Léda, Diane, fighter riders, and the parks are present in octagonal medallions. The alcove of the room is not completed, because the ceiling is not painted, just as the king’s cabinet: framed by dressers, a large bed of regence has a embroidered tapestry representing the history of Psyche.

The chambre de Louis XV, occupied approximately two thirds from the former room of Madame Fouquet. The current decor reconstitutes that of a bedroom that the marshal and the Duchess of Villars offered their friends. The furniture is typical of the Louis XV era: large Baldequin bed , covenant with chassis armchairs, garnished with tapestries. At the bottom right, we can observe the service chamber where the servant of the lady or the gentleman’s valet slept. You have the Cabinet Louis XV ,a small room on the former Bedroom of Mme Fouquet, It had the toilet, bathtub, bidet, and WC,, then the bedroom Louis XV, With comfort and fantasies, decorated with nice flowers and colors and a large canopy bed. The Bedroom Louis XVI, was the Apartment cCreated by duke Praslin 18 years before the French revolution, done in the Louis XV style and woods done locally, an alcove bed, a long Lounge type, small furniture and trinkets; All done on wallpaper,
