I am again back at you with one of most fluid passions, wines. Of course not just any wine but the Médoc! And not just Bordeaux as if you have read my blog should know it is a genetic name covering a very large area north south, east of the city of Bordeaux! I found me much older pictures of my visiting days from Florida that need to be in my blog, The Médoc is in the Gironde department 33 of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. There are three parts to it: Bas-Médoc, Haut-Médoc and Landes, and two terroirs, the famous Médoc vineyard along the estuary, and Landes du Médoc towards the ocean, Therefore, here is my take on the wines of Margaux !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.
The town of Margaux finds its peak towards the middle of the 19C with the consecration given by the classification of the wines of the Gironde. This ability to produce great wines is linked to methods of vinification and unique cultures, and to our temperate climate well appreciated by all. Other monuments to see here are the Saint Michel Church This church, located near the Château Margaux, is surrounded by the cemetery. It has also replaced the old castral chapel of Château Margaux. Dating from the end of the 18C and early 19C, the church was made up of a bell tower-porch, a main nave framed by two aisles and a flat bedside with sacristy. The choir keeps the vestiges of the old apse with this broken double -tired arch falling on Corinthian capitals. There is a beautiful set of wooden sculptures, donation of the Cruse family and from the chapel of the Château Rauzan-Ségla.

In 1697, Louise Escousses sold the property to Master Simon Malescot, adviser to King Louis XIV with the Parliament of Bordeaux. He will give his surname to the castle. On February 5, 1827, Count Jean-Baptiste de Saint-Exupéry acquired Château Malescot. Great-grandfather of the aviator and writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, he decides to enrich his name with the castle. A expensive lifestyle will lead the widow of Jean-Baptiste to sell his property at auction in 1853. It was in 1870 that Messrs Fourcade and Boissac will then give the great wine of Château Malescot worthy of its rank and cellars of farms, which will serve as a model for the other Medocan castles. However, they will have to resolve to sell in 1901. One period marked by the uncertainties of a succession of owners follows the stability of yesteryear. On June 1, 1955, Paul and Roger Zuger purchased from the domain who only had 7 hectares of vineyards. Today the property has 28 hectares in Margaux appellation. Three generations of Zuger follow one another to put off afloat and restore its reputation. It was therefore in 1994 that Jean-Luc took over from his father Roger. Today, Catherine and Jean-Luc Zuger are owners. Jean-Luc, manager, is doing everything to make the Château Malescot Saint-Exupéry one of the great vintages of the Margaux appellation. Château Malescot Saint Exupéry balance and depth are there. The tannins are silky. Slightly wooded and grilled notes tinted the wine after ventilation, revealing a farm still in the making but well mastered. A familiar wine. The Dame de Malescot a fresh, light nose, an elegant, subtle and balanced mouth.
