I came with Air France, or connecting in Roissy CDG with Tarom the national airline of Romania, My routine was Nantes Atlantique to Roissy CDG, and onwards to Henri Coenda International Airport in Bucharest,.and the same coming back. While there, hire a taxi to my hotel either the Taxi 2000 or the Taxi Meridien ,both good experiences.

The terminals of Henri Coandă International Airport (OTP) include: International Terminal (I), Terminal 1: (T1 :), Terminal 3 (T3), Terminal 9: (T9 🙂 The airport consists of a single terminal made up of two main buildings or independent terminals. These buildings are the hall of departures or international departure hall and the hall of arrivals. A corridor with shops connects the two buildings. The airport has 32 gates. The area dedicated to international departures includes many businesses and cafes. It also has a chapel and a small fun area for children at the first floor of the departure hall. The installations have access to people with reduced mobility. A direct train service connects the Gare du Nord of Bucharest to the airport train station located about the airport itself. Bus shuttles connect the halls of departures and arrivals. It is planned that the M6 line of the Bucharest metro directly connects the city and the airport. The airport is also connected by bus via the RATB. Line 780 connects the Gare du Nord and line 100 express to the city center 24 hours a day. By day the bus leaves every 15 minutes and at night, the bus leaves every 30 minutes, and provides a transport link much faster between the center of the city and the airport. It is possible to reserve a taxi at the airport via touch screens at the arrivals terminal. By car the airport is connected by the RN1. The future A3 motorway will also make it possible to reach the city. Vehicle rental companies are between the international departure terminal and the arrival terminal.

A bit of history I like tell us that the Henri-Coendă international airport is the largest airport in Romania and one of the two airports in the Romanian capital with a second call Băneasa-Aurel Vlaicu which never use think is domestic use. The international airport is in the town of Otopeni, about 17 km from Bucharest, it is name since September 2004 of Henri Coandă, inventor of the turbojet in 1911, During the militarised period of 1944-1965:, the airport track of 1,200 meters and the ancillary buildings were used by Romanian military aviation. By 1965, the increase in air traffic provided by Băneasa airport requires the construction of a new airport., the cargo terminal in 1969 was temporarily used for boarding passengers. On August 2, the inauguration of the official airport show took place on the occasion of the visit of the American president Richard Nixon. In 1986 was the inauguration of passengers, A second track of 3,500 meters was built In 1997, the international departures terminal, with a capacity of 1,200 passengers per rush hour, opens its doors in December. By 2001,the new parking space is inaugurated in June for the arrivals terminal with three levels and a capacity of 900 spaces.

The current terminal is almost reached its maximum capacity and little expansion is available on the current location, the program for future growth includes a new terminal T2, and a hotel are envisaged, the new terminal would be built at the end of the current site and consists of four rooms, each capable of treating 5 million passengers per year; In 2023 Terminal 2 should be solely able to treat the 20 million passengers per year indicated by estimates.

I did took a bit of a ride on the A2 road to Constanza but did not reach the sea, just remember stop for lunch on a Viva rest stop and have a picture to show on this post for the memories of always.
