The restaurant Le Donjon located at 14 Rue d’Epernon ,Houdan as visitors we came to eat here once that I recalled ,a nice fancier resto, It is a stone’s throw from the Saint-Jacques-et-Saint-Christophe Church (see post), the Le Donjon or dungeon is in reference to the eponymous tower of the village, Several menus are offered: in 5 services, duo, trio, or express to meet the various expectations of customers. A real culinary journey that follows the chef’s inspiration.

The Hôpital de Houdan ,located at 42 Rue de Paris, My curiosity made me take a picture , of course, you don’t want to visit it ! Its a hospital !! Here since the 13C as a Hôtel-Dieu In 1623 this Hôtel-Dieu consisted of a chapel, high and low rooms, barns, stables, courtyard and garden on land from the parish. The first building would have been built, on the current site, around 1580. The chapel was built between 1636 and 1640, and a building was assigned to it in 1704, to constitute a 4-bed hospital (Saint-Jacques and Saint -Mathieu). Two sisters of the community of Saint-Paul de Chartres were affected there in 1709. The establishment was inaugurated in 1711. In 1743, there were 5 beds, 8 in 1772, 10 in 1782. The works of enlargement had been carried out in 1766. The French revolution was a difficult period for the hospital, which lost most of its resources.

The tower or donjon very visible as you entered the city by car .It is what remained of the old fortifications been built in the 13C by Count Amaury III de Montfort; a massive tower alone in the western part of the town with 25 meters high and 16 meters of diameter, flank by four smaller towers of 4,8 meters in diameter; it is used today as a water tower.
