My treasure watercolors of my belle France !!!, Part 5

The Aquarelles or Watercolor is a water color on paper., so they tell me,,, In French, we distinguish watercolor, transparent, from gouache, of identical composition, but opaque. The binder that attaches the pigments to the support fibers is almost always gum arabic. Watercolor or gouache colors consist of pigments, a water-soluble binder and additives to aid in application and storage. Watercolors can only be exhibited in suitable conditions, low light and protected by glass. Which is how I keep them for many years already

I have many so will show you my last batch on this post ,nice memories of many of these places indeed that need to be in my blog, Hope you enjoy these wonderful  aquarelles  or  watercolors  shots of wonderful monuments of my belle France as I.

The Pic de l’Ours or peak of the bear is located in the Esterel massif, on the territory of the town of Saint-Raphaël, in the department of Var no 83 and in the region of PACA. It culminates at an altitude of 488 meters. As the entire Esterel massif, the Bear peak was formed by the Volcanic activities of the Permian, about 250 million years ago. It is essentially composed of a red porphyry: ignimbritis. 450 meters north-west of the peak rises the bear tooth (417 m), a rocher of rhyolite partly spared by erosion, on the side of which is a small cave: the bear balm The peak of the bear, like the entire Esterel massif, is a hiking place, Which we dear to go in many years ago for a while but did not do the entire route !

The Bavella pass is the main starting point to explore the Aiguilles de Bavella peaks. You will find a paid parking at the pass, located at 1,218 meters above sea level. In high season, this parking can be very busy. It is therefore advisable to arrive early in the morning to find a place. There are plenty of bathing sites such as the Pulischellu , Vacca, Solenzara, and Cavu natural pools, This is for the show, not been there.

The region of Normandy has an impressive number of houses called “half -timbered” or “wooden sides”, in the form of townhouses or thatched cottages. This construction technique has always been much appreciated in the region, particularly in its eastern part where wood was abundant. Traditional Norman houses are called chaumières (cottages) for the right reason they have thatched roofs. In other words, a mixture of rye, reeds or wheat attached to a wooden structure. My road warrior ways have taken me to all of Normandy and wonderful countryside sides !

The town of Rencurel is located in the Isère department 38 in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The territory is located in the northern part of the Vercors massif, near its Western side. The town is also registered in the territory of the Vercors Regional Natural Park. 43 km from Grenoble, 132 km from Lyon, and around 597 km from Paris. The Vercors Regional Natural Park highest peak is the Rocher Rour 2453 meters at Lus-la-Croix-Haute (Drôme 26). The Parc Maison (siege) is located in Lans-en-Vercors (Isère 38), I got myself here do not know why was following wife’s older brother lol !

The vineyard of the Côte des Blancs extends over twelve towns such as Avize, Bergères-lès-Vertus, Chouilly, Cramant, Cuis, Graves, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Oory, Virtues, Villeneuve-Renneville-Chevigny and Voipreux .Pendicularly at the Marne valley and a few km from Epernay, its slopes and its rumps that line the Brie Champenoise plateau over a length of 10 to 15 km. As its name suggests, it is a white grape variety: the noble Chardonnay reigns there supreme, except at the southern end where the pinot noir of Vertus disputes the place, Here my road warrior have been all over::)

The AOC Arbois, fertile land, and not much known but we tried it and like it as in all in France ! The appellation covers 766 hectares, spread over 12 towns around the city of Arbois. The grape varieties of the appellation are Pinot Noir, Poulsard, Trousseau, Savagnin and Chardonnay. The wines will thus be slightly different depending on the assemblies , The name comes from the Celtic “Ar” and “Bos” meaning “Fertile earth”, The Arbois appellation was the first French AOC dated. It Produces around 70% of the Jura red wines and 30% of White. This appellation has a total of 766 hectares. Main towns are Abergement-le-Grand, Les Arsures, Mathenay, Montigny-les-Arsures, Mesnay (39), Molamboz, Les Planches-Près-Arbois, Pupillin, Saint-Cyr-Montmalin, Vadans and Villette-les-Arbois.

In my road warrior tours we enjoy the wine route of Alsace, We went by several but one nice one and so glad have at least the aquarelle of the area was in Hunawihr ,a typical Alsatian village, classified among the “most beautiful villages in France”. Hunawihr owes his name to the Holy Lavandière Huna who, according to the legend, would have lived there in the 12C with her husband, the Lord of the Franks Hunon. Legend has it that in the 12C, when the Hunawihr winegrowers could not harvest, Ste Hune accomplishes a miracle by pouring the wine from the fountain that still bears her name today. This wine village is made up of houses of gable winegrowers on streets dating from the 16C to the 18C. We did go and purchase for a while to a family domain for 11 generations. Independent winemaker, cultivating 6 hectares of vines mainly in hillsides in organic culture, These are the wines of André Vielweber located at 1 Grand ‘Rue’, Hunawihr, Do try it.
