The former Somerset Hotel and Residences of Surabaya !!!

I came late visiting Asia, starting really in force in 2012 with my first trip to Indonesia ! This run continue until 2018, and now retired looking forward to be back, eventually, I have written several articles/posts on the country and its major cities in my blog, do read them please. However, there is one unique place spent several trips stays there and decided to do a post of its own, well worth it, memories forever, Therefore, here is my take on the former Somerset Hotel and Residences of Surabaya !!! I was always was brought in from the Juanda Airport by limo taxi service, and used it as my base for the rest of Indonesia including Jakarta ! Each time in town there was always one hotel preferred by all my collegues this was the Somerset Hotel and Résidences, great place where many in front desk knew me!. This is an all inclusive property with hotel rooms and apartments, tennis basketball courts nice outdoor swimming pool, covered secured parking, and big rooms and baths all with AC of course;temp went up to 38C !!! outside, Right inside the old Somerset you have the Pyramide bar (still kept by the new owners! )a great place to hang out Watch TV and drink bintang beers!  In later years after my stop traveling there it was with new owners and new name as the Verwood Hotel and Serviced Residences.

It is a huge property with all the trimmings, and always my base here, easy walking to a street of many restaurants and right near the main road taking me to my assignments. This hotel features a restaurant, an outdoor pool, and a bar/lounge. Good for family and enjoy the children’s pool, playground, and arcade/game room. Enjoy the fitness center and perks like free self parking and a free area shuttle. Free WiFi, LED TVs with cable channels on the 467 soundproofed guestrooms with 24-hour room service. Other amenities include coffee/tea makers and free bottled water. Superbe always for several years, and will be remembered. In Surabaya, my stayed have been always here , and glad to do a post on this wonderful experience at the former Somerset  Hotel and Residences, at Jalan Raya Kupang Indah, Surabaya East Java.

My trips here were always memorable as said the staff remembered me each time and treated like royalty, from the former Somerset Hotel and Résidences, went on to see the City and the rest of Indonesia sometimes by car and most of the times by flying out of Juanda Airport (see post).

There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
