The salons Saint Louis of the Château de Fontainebleau !!

Oh yes one of my favorite castles of France and my first ever visited back in 1990, when I came to be shown this castle by my girlfriend then wife of 28 years, my dear late wife Martine! It has a love affair ever since ,and proud member of the Friends of the castle. It has so much in architecture and history of France, its huge and of course of the world. Therefore, here is my take on the salons Saint Louis of the Château de Fontainebleau !! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

Let me tell you some areas not have touch base much yet and they are sublime. I found me older pictures of these and they should be in my blog, me think, The wonderful beautiful and architecturally stunning Château de Fontainebleau, where else! And its salons Saint Louis ! In my belle France, better for me my sentimental Seine et Marne dept 77 of the ïle de France region. Hope you enjoy the post as I

These Saint Louis rooms are open for the public but can be reserved for events or private affairs. Lucky to have seen them and photos to show it. They are the former rooms and anterooms of kings, the Salons Saint-Louis halls are transformed, for an evening, into reception lounges to host dinners and cocktails, in the heart of the castle, in the ancient medieval keep. Access is via the Cour des Mathurins,(see post) entrance located at rue Denecourt, opposite the municipal theater ( see post).

These two rooms maintain, by their very name, the memory of the most famous sovereign of the Middle Ages: Louis IX, known as Saint Louis. It is in fact in the second room housed in the thickness of the old wall of the keep that the King’s bedroom was installed since the Middle Ages. When the chamber changed location in the 17C, this room was downgraded to the status of an antechamber, that is to say a clear and spacious room, furnished with benches, where one waits to be introduced to the sovereign . On the other side of the arcade, the marble equestrian figure of King Henry IV by Mathieu Jacquet, a vestige of a monumental fireplace from the end of the 16C, was installed at the entrance to the king’s apartment on the request from Louis-Philippe Ier, who thus paid homage to his ancestor, “the most beloved of kings”.
