My Real Madrid, the greatest club in football/soccer history !!!

I lived in Madrid for four years between 1970 to 1974, and played for the Real Madrid in baseball,volleyball ,and football/soccer in the alavin division. Once a Madridista, always a Madridista to the grave. There is no other team club alike in the history of the game of football/soccer. Hala Madrid !!!! I have written plenty in my blog , but lately left it to the side; this is just an update reminder in my black and white series, no pictures ! Therefore, here is my take on my Real Madrid, the greatest club in football/soccer history !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I,

By the way an update, we won our 36th league championship in the season 2023-24 with 10 points ahead of the usual second place team. We have , also, on June 1 2024 won our 15th Champions league both the most of any Spanish team! The Champions league European tournament is the most of any team in Europe by more than half! We lost the finals of the Basketball champions league and are in playoff to win the endesa Spanish championship !!! Doing it all !!! And we are ready for the 37 and 16 !!!

The greatest period came after the war when on September 15 , 1943 when ex player and ex coach ,Santiago Bernabeu was named President of the club. The Santiago Bernabeu stadium was built in 1947, with a capacity of  80 354 spectators today. The new sport city or  Ciudad Deportiva is today at Valdebebas just outside Madrid and the basketball arena  is now at the WiZink Center in Madrid. From 2000 on the new President is Florentino Perez who have guided the club even higher to the standards of excellence we are known in history, The club has participated in all seasons of Spanish first division football, and has won 35 Ligas, by far the most. The Champions league which we have won 14 times more than any other club in history, The legendary Santiago Bernabeu stadium on Paseo de la Castellana, metro line 10 Santiago Bernabeu is getting a complete facelift. Fully open by middle of 2024. You get here by metro on line 10 stop Santiago Bernabeu or by bus like the 27 or Cercanias trains at Nuevos Ministerios, or walk to it or drive underground parking!

The French sports dailyL’Equipe which was an integral part in the creation of the Champions league or as it was call before the Cup of Europe ,has named the Real Madrid as the best team in the history of the competition. In the overall 68 editions of the Champions, Real Madrid is first 483 points ,followed by AC Milan 330, and Bayern Munich 288. In December 2000, the club was name by FIFA the best club of the 20C; and also received the order of merit by FIFA in 2004. Also, the IFFHS in Europe name it best club of the 20C in Europe!  Simply the best ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On April 1st 2017 the Real Madrid CF became the first club with 100 millions fans in their Facebook page!!! The UEFA club coefficient score average the last 10 years again shows the Real Madrid first with 381 points second is Bayern Munich back at 314, And as a historical fact as of 2021 we are still first with 615 points !!! And according to the Recreational) Sport Soccer Statistics Foundation ( RSSSF) a non profit organisation that collects football statistics we are top rank in the world with 1391 ahead of Boca Juniors of Argentina with 1001 points !!!

There is a Cercanias train to the station in Valdebebas and then taxi to the Ciudad Real Madrid or by car from a point in Retiro park get out on my favorite road A3 direction Valencia but join the beltway  M30 to hook up with the M11 then bear left into Avenida Alejandro de la Sota( you will see the IFEMA congress hall on your right) ,go to next street and turn right into the Avenida de las Fuerzas Armadas, and look for signs for parking.

Our women team in its second historical year in the LIga Iberdrola (1st division). Lately the league name has change to  Liga F Moeve. We have consistantly finished 2nd and already reach quarter finals of the Champion League women.

The Real Madrid basketball section was born on March 8, 1931 following an advertisement in a Spanish daily, ABC, inviting all gentlemen interested in playing basketball to join the club. Raimundo Saporta is part of a commission, also comprising the Yugoslav Borislav Stanković, the French Robert Busnel, the Czech Miloslav Kriz and the Soviet Nikolai Semasko, who during the European Championships in 1957, invited the national federations to participate in their national champions in a competition which began in 1958 and for which the newspaper L’Équipe (France) provided the trophy. This is today the EuroLeague the Basketball version of the Champions league of football. Here again, we have won more than anybody with 11 titles and as of February 2024 first rank with 180 points

The basketball games that I followed from the old Ciudad Deportiva (now Four Towers business park) to Vistalegre to Caja Magica , and now the Wizink Center.

My background comes all the way from Candelaria and Pajara in Tenerife, Spain where my grandparents came from ;not knowing each other then, to Punta Brava, west of Havana, Cuba. There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
