This is Cauayan in Philippines !!

I went down to my vault of older pictures and posts and found this one. It brings lots of good memories so will give it a post of its own and tell you and me, a bit more about it, Again, what a thrill to find these older pictures of memorable moments in my life on the travels of our world. I like to tell you about this is Cauayan in Philippines !! Hope you enjoy the post as I,

Again, traveling in the island nation of the Philippines, went this time to a new town of  Cauayan in the province of Isabela ,north of Manila. They tell me by bus or car is about 12-14 hrs from Manila or 369 km (229 mi), but by plane was only 2 hrs!

The city airport located at Barangay San Fermin and provide quicker link to Cauayan from Manila, Cebu Pacific Air fly in Cauayan daily utilizing an Airbus A320 aircraft,  Again flying internally on Cebu Pacific airline which as routine was always late! The airport is very small and limited facilities just a big runway to accommodate island travel and visit the caves which are famous here and attract some tourists from abroad. Parking and Wi-Fi are always free, allowing you to enjoy internet connection wherever you are and come and go as you please. Cauayan Airport , offers its guests the opportunity to benefit from a restaurant, an outdoor swimming pool and a massage which are some of the special amenities that will enhance your stay. While at Cauayan , I stayed at a more modest hotel the Tapi traveler’s hotel. Huge executive room and bath thus, and a simple cafeteria restaurant with outdoor swimming pool. Very nice friendly service here and a shuttle to the airport for free. The place is quiet fora relaxing stay over in your way to visit the caves which are very popular here even if I had no time to see them. And the trip back was very loong and even more delays at Cauayan airport , the flight with Cebu Pacific was delayed 3 hours (the longest delay ever for me, there is always a first), been lucky in the past but….I needed to go thru Manila airport and from there Philippines airlines to Cebu airport ,where just stayed at the airport for the connection domestic to international and my flight back home! (see posts),

A bit of history I like tell us that Cauayan was founded in 1740, before the establishment of Isabela province by 116 years. The town site was first located in a place called Calanusian along the Cagayan River. After a series of disastrous floods, the town site was moved to its present location, On May 1, 1856, the province of Isabela was created by a Royal Decree, (name after Queen Isabel II of Spain) ,and Cauayan was again administratively transferred, this time to Isabela. On February 28, 2001, Republic Act 9017 was signed by then President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, converting Cauayan into a component city. It was ratified on March 30  2001,

Some of the things to see here with time are the big adobe stone church located at the Poblacion, now called Our Lady of the Pillar Church and the Tabacalera warehouse (cigar making) and La Insular bodegas found at Barangay Turayong that date their construction during Spanish rule. Cauayan takes pride in its Gawagaway-yan Festival , a celebration of the city’s bountiful harvest and merriment for the ethno-linguistic groups in the city from March 30 to April 13 each year.
