I like to tell you about a memorable experience that finally saw a couple pictures in my vault. I was to go on business trip to Geneva back in 2009 thereabouts and walking around City center and hungry saw this quant nice looking place call Le Pain Quotidien, It was a memorable experience with friendly service which unfortunately took no pictures of it, Years later when coming regularly to Mexico City my French collegue invited me to eat ,guest it at Le Pain Quotidien and voilà the memories rekindle in my mind , These are my memorable moment once again in Mexico City ! Therefore, here is my rendition on Le Pain Quotidien of Mexico City !!! Hope you enjoy it as I.

My experience was at the Le Pain Quotidien location on Av. Insurgentes Sur, 1630.right across the street from the shopping plaza Centro Insurgentes (see post) ,not far from Teatro Insurgentes (see post) and my local office ! I had the Roast Beef platter and a Bohemia oscura beer did the trick as well as tartines later on! Very nice lunch indeed, and was offered the lunch, free !!!

A bit of history I l like : The Le Pain Quotidien is a chain of bakeries and restaurants founded in 1990 in Brussels by Alain Coumont. Its head office is located in Brussels and the operational headquarters in New York since 2003. One day, Alain Coumont’s father exclaimed: “Me, this is not my daily bread”. The founder named his company the daily bread or in French “Le Pain Quotidien”, It all started with a restaurant named “le Café du Dôme” in 1987 in Brussels. On Thursday, October 26, 1990,the first Pain Quotidien opened in Brussels. In 1994, following significant debt, Alain Coumont sold 60% of the company to Van de Kerkhove. Subsequently, the production of pastries was transferred to it. After 14 months, Van de Kerkhove exercised the purchase option that had been granted to him during the negotiation over the remaining 40% of Alain Coumont. As the founder of the brand only had a free 25-year license for the United States, France and Japan, he founded a company, PQ Licensing SA, to develop this license. In 1995, when his last shares are sold, Alain Coumont is in contact with two American investors, and a master franchise contract is signed with them. Alain Coumont then moved to the United States to help set up the first store there. The group which has developed in the United States buys the Belgian company. The brand is then under the supervision of PQ Licensing , made up of 8 Belgian shareholders. In total, the chain has more than 250 restaurants in more than 20 different countries. Le Pain Quotidien has 10 restaurants in Paris and three others in Lille(2) and Aix en Provence (1).
In Mexico the Le Pain Quotidien landed in 2009 ,and now has several branches amongst them in: Bosques de las Lomas, Condesa, Insurgentes (my experience), Las Águilas, Molière, New York, Palmas, Polanco, Roma, San Jerónimo ,Napoles, and Puebla. Also, Lomas de las Palmas and the Pedregal de San Ángel, and the airport terminal 2 Only the Mexican branches are the ones that manufacture their furniture , the others import them from Belgium
