So we go on with some exotic parts of Mexico lindo y querido. I like to take you to seldom and little seen Mexico down in a popular State of a well known region but a bit south of it all towards Belize. Again, found a stray pic that should be in my blog and the reason of this post, I will be talking about this is Calderitas, Quintana Roo, Mexico !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I
Calderitas is located 8 km from Chetumal (see post) and even thus seems close to Bacalar (see post) the road goes around the lagoon and is 43 km away, Calderitas is an eminently fishing community, although recently it has diversified its economy, mainly towards tourism. The beaches of this place have that beautiful turquoise blue typical of the Mexican Caribbean in addition to being a place full of history.
Some of the first Mayans lived in this destination and even very close to here is the archaeological zone of Oxtankah. It is the largest and most important pre-Hispanic city discovered in the Bay of Chetumal and is a marvel built with Petén style design. There is a monumental arch that is located in one of the main structures of the archaeological zone, Sadly no time to see this,
What I did was my road warrior mode driving around and coming for lunch at a wonderful place recommended by all and me , This is El Rincón de las Tortugas restaurant, along the Bay of Chetumal, wonderful fresh fried fish, fries, sweet bananas, yellow rice, and beers Modelo Especial, nice.
