Curiosities of Mérida, Mexico !!!

Here I go again with some nostalgia in my blog. Well, this blog, as said, is my life’s history, Read on,,,, This was a nice trip I was able to do as visiting Mexico City took advantage and got me interjet airfare to Merida Yucatan, Mexico where I had my aunt (mom’s sister now RIP), and my cousin ,still there. That was a great visit and many memorable moments, as always seeing sights is not all but family time count twice, Therefore, here is my take on curiosities of Mérida, Mexico !!!  Hope you enjoy the post as i.

I have been to Mexico several times and travel from north to south of it. However, this time was special. I had the opportunity to visit my family in Mérida, Yucatàn, Mexico!!!  I was on my way to see Merida below. See my other post on Merida in my blog.

Mérida ,call the white city is the capital of the state of Yucatán. It is  located about 30 km from the coast, south of the Gulf of Mexico and north of the Yucatán Peninsula near the epicenter of the Chicxulub crater. The ancient Tiho, or Ichcanziho, which means city of 5 hills was one of the main cities of the Maya province of Chacán. The Spanish conquistador Francisco de Montejo (son) , founded there on January 6, 1542 the city of Mérida.

 La Isla at Merida . An artificial island that is why the name la isla, the island. It is at  Plaza la Isla Cabo.  It has several favorite stores such as Osh’Kosh children store, Calvin Klein, Lacoste, Tommy Hilfiger, a big Cinepolis cinema and a games exchange place we enjoyed in Spain and name CEX; old favorite eateries such as Krispy Kreme, a nice irish pub MaCarthy’s with a nice terrace and an upper level bar Distrito Gourmet with sports TV screens, and a lineup of drinks of all sorts.

Calling itself ‘malltertainment, it includes green areas with play space, a large lake, cinema, fun fair, Barrio Frenezí where you’ll find bumper cars, a carousel, a free fall, climbing wall, and much more. There’s also a hot air balloon on site. In the mall itself, smaller kids will enjoy riding pretend horses around. A new trampoline park , and big deparment store Liverpool (my favorite in Mexico).

There you go folks, another wonderful visit of Mexico,  and the added bonus of Mérida, Yucatàn to see family. With company always better to travel and with locals even better ,nice to see Merida . There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting. Moving average a home every 5.5 years hopefully this will be my last. Cheers All rights reserved.
