The institution, created in 1701 by Louis XIV was built on the Place du Théâtre between 1910 and 1921 , The belfry, 76 meters high, symbolizes the power of merchant cities. It is decorated with a four-dial clock. Every quarter of an hour, the carillon made up of 25 bells plays different tunes, Currently, it is a place for meetings, advice and promotion of regional businesses. Inside, the Hall of Honor is access by taking the staircase giving access to the building, you will discovered a large room topped with a majestic glass roof. Several chandeliers decorate the room, the largest of which illuminates the center of the room. On each side, the room is lined with small columns. In front and at the back of the room, a stained glass window indicates that you are in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Lille. Two small galleries are on either side of the main hall. In one of these galleries, a pretty tapestry representing a scene from everyday life at the time of the building’s construction and a fresco recounting the inauguration of the Port of Lille are also on display.
