The City of Piraquara has its origins when it was frequented, during the summer, by Carijós Indians (a branch of the Guarani Indians) who lived most of the year on the coast of São José dos Pinhais, only now 13 km away, and 21 km from my base at Curitiba, You have roads here such as the beltway East of Curitiba, which passes through its territory, which connects Curitiba to BR-116, Then, the PR-415, (my road) which connects Curitiba to the municipal seat, The city of Piraquara is also served by railroad:Estrada de Ferro Curitiba Paranaguá, which connects Curitiba to Paranaguá. The station was founded in 1880.

The town really came about from a farm in 1700, forming a small mining camp in the place where today is the town of Piraquara. Later came several farms in the vicinity that, together, formed a settlement that received the name of Piraquara. In 1885, the village was elevated to a parish, with the name Senhor Bom Jesus de Piraquara. In 1890, it became a village, separated from São José dos Pinhais and renamed “Deodoro” in honor of Marshal Manoel Deodoro da Fonseca. Still in 1890, the city was created, based in Vila Deodoro, which was renamed Piraquara in 1929.

Some of the things to see here are going to the historic center of Piraquara to see the old houses of the workers on the railroad that cuts through the city center, in addition to the old buildings such as the Warehouse, the Casario, the old City Hall and the Mother Church. The Circuit Trentino: the city was the only town in Paraná State to receive immigrants from Trento, Italy, Among the architectural complex, there are the Mansion of the Sousa Tesserolli Family, the Church of Senhor Bom Jesus dos Passos, the old Train Station, in addition to the new museums, such as the Casa da Memória and the Railway Memory Centre. The nice relaxing Parque das Águas Jacob Simião, structured in an old central area of the city, adopted by the first people from Piraquara as a recreational space. The Italian Immigration Memorial ,inaugurated in August 1997, the mural marks the first 100 years of Italian immigration in the city.
