Curiosities of Ho Chi Minh City, part IV !!!

I came first late to this country back in November 2012, and the fever took off thanks to my job, I came every year since then until December 2018, (as pictures) always a new area and new horizons, The most repeated was Ho Chi Minh City as our Asia regional office was base there ! I like to tell you a bit about this office as much as I can with some older pictures, and for the memories of always ; still in touch with collegues there ! Many wonderful memories and good friends to last a lifetime; most told in my blog, Do not know when back but the memories will lingered as in all my travels. Therefore, here is a bit on those tall buildings in my curiosities of Ho Chi Minh City, part IV !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

Ho Chi Minh City, commonly called Saigon, which was the official name until 1975, or formerly Prey Nokor when it belonged to the Khmer Empire. It correspond to a Vietnamese province, and is divided in 19 boroughs and 5 districts,and  it is located on the banks of the Saigon River. The name Saigon refers to the district of Cholon (Big Market), while the mandarins use various appellations, Dong Nai, Phan Yen, Gia Dinh and, by local traders, Ben Nghe and Ben Thanh. The French, for their part, perpetuate the name Sài Gòn,  it is the French pronunciation, until the 1920’s. From 1931 to 1956, this name will be officially associated with that of Cholon, the city bordering on a strong Chinese community, with which it will be merged, Saigon-Cholon, before resuming the name of Saigon alone.

As I walked and drove in the city , my final point was my Asia regional office in City center district 1 with great views of the City which I like to show here, We were here 37 Đ. Tôn Đức Thắng, Bến Nghé, Quận 1, Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh 700000. A beautiful building with a bar restaurant on top floor !! Very near the Saigon river ! Memorable moments here indeed, to last a lifetime and always looking forward to be back, eventually,

There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting. Moving average a home every 5.5 years hopefully this will be my last. Cheers All rights reserved.
