And my continuing road warrior trip back into our nostalgic Normandy, we visited two main towns and stayed between the two, perfect timing and location. The Clos Lupin, located 15 rue Guy de Maupassant and near the former house of Guy de Maupassant , is a half-timbered house in which Maurice Leblanc wrote 19 novels and 39 short stories ,The site is associated with the popular myth of Arsène Lupin, gentleman-burglar based on Maurice Leblanc’s novels, autographs or apocrypha, their pastiches and in countless film and television adaptations, in comics, manga, or in songs, which hides its spoils in the needle.

Etretat

In the strangely charming park of Maurice Leblanc’s house, Clos Lupin has been transformed into a gentleman burglar’s den. At reception, you are given the essential equipment to discover a scenographic itinerary with the greatest of thieves. Eight stages, in the imagination and magic, are meticulously linked in a turn of the century decoration.

Etretat

Family property where Maurice Leblanc stayed from 1915 to 1941. He wrote a large part of his work there. floors with sloping roofs, decorated with a wooden balcony in the purest Cauchois style, nestled in the heart of the city. This villa with 19C architecture, characteristic of Normandy seaside resorts, now belongs to its only granddaughter. Arsène Lupine has appropriated the place and reveals the secret of the Aiguille Creuse during a scenic sound and light itinerary..

Etretat

You enter through a door that opens onto a garden planted with ancestral trees and lawns lined with roses. At the bottom on the right, you will only have to follow the path drawn by the pergola to access the house. At the threshold of the house, you will be greeted by “Grognard” in a yellow vest with black stripes. He will give you an infrared headset. You will then follow, all the stages of the course. A door opens onto Maurice Leblanc’s rotunda study… The story begins. Then begins a journey in his lair to discover his exploits, his witticisms, his female conquests, his multiple personalities… but also to solve with him the enigma of the Aiguille Creuse. Staging, games of light and shadow, soundscapes, atmosphere of mystery…
