And my continuing road warrior trip back into our nostalgic Normandy, we visited two main towns and stayed between the two, perfect timing and location. We arrive to Etretat on the road D940 , and we parked by parking Place de Gaulle easy and free , We then walked the city center all over ! The beach ,cliffs and l’aiguille creuse were just there ,awesome !! Let me tell you about the L’Aiguille Creuse restaurant and the streets of Etretat !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.
L’aiguille creuse or the hollow needle is one of Maurice Leblanc’s best-known novels. Published 110 years ago, it depicts the adventures of Arsène Lupin, a gentleman burglar. A source of inspiration taken from the Aiguille Creuse de l’Etretat cliff. Only 5 minutes walk from Étretat Beach. This is also, the name of a hotel and brasserie resto which we tried for breakfast arriving very early to Etretat and again it was a find, would love to be back, We have the meny croissants, bread baguette, butter, jellies of apricot and prune, I had my coffee with milk and my sons capucchinos, and a glass of orange juice all for 9.50€ great nicely served by a friendly waitress, We have it posted to be back, eventually, The hotel has 7 rooms all facing the beach and the Place de Gaulle parking lot.

The Place du Maréchal Foch is one of the main squares in the city center. There is a large concentration of bistros, bars and other creperies and some pretty terraces. Also don’t miss the halles,or covered market with their pretty wooden framework.

The Rue Alphonse Karr, goes from the beach parking De Gaulle on the left hand side and continues on this long street full of shops, restaurants and just wonderful architecture such as the Villa Maurice, Jean Baptiste Alphonse Karr, was a French novelist and journalist. He is the son of the French composer Henri Karr and the uncle of the Spanish feminist writer Carme Karr and the French writer Violette Bouyer-Karr. He was a friend of Victor Hugo, and an author in the romantic vein. His novel Histoire de Romain d’Étretat made Étretat known, where he often went.

The Rue Traz Périer, you walk from the beach parking de Gaulle on the right hand side to this street and see Villas La Cordin, Caprice, and La Favorite for a wonderful Normand architectural tour on your own,

The rue des docteurs fidelin passes in from of the covered market or halles in a picturesque wooden houses street, see ,also, the fountain, The first doctor officially installed in Etretat was Adolphe Paul Charles Fidelin and treated -among others, the Maupassant family. Two of his children were doctors in turn: in 1883 Robert Adolphe Charles Fidelin was born, who owned, at 10 rue Notre-Dame (today today 10 bis), the villa La Chaufferette; he practiced in Étretat and died there in 1957. His brother Charles Michel Léon Fidelin was born in 1898; at 3 rue du Docteur Paul-Fidelin (formerly rue du Marché). It currently bears the name of rue des Docteurs Fidelin.
