I like to take this one out into a single post to bring back memories of always, I drove thru several towns in the State of São Paulo , and have wonderful memories of all ; however, my first taste of the State was in the big City of Sao Paulo. I would love to tell you about my memories of São Paulo !!! First visit was in 1994, and then many more , and into other parts of Brazil as well , see my posts in my blog, Hope you enjoy the post as I.
The City of São Paulois the largest city in Brazil and South America. On the plateau of Piratininga at 760 meters above sea level, the city is crossed by two rivers, the Rio Tietê and the Rio Pinheiros which confluent before crossing the wholeState of São Paulo and to throw themselves in the Rio Paraná. Founded in 1554 by Portuguese Jesuits, the city developed thanks to the gold of the surrounding mines until the end of the 18C, and then became prosperous thanks to the cultivation of coffee and sugar. In the last century, it has gradually become the economic heart of Brazil, with its business district around Avenida Paulista , hosting the São Paulo Stock Exchange and seats of large Brazilian and international companies.
The memorable Ibirapuera park is nice jogging and conferences held every year for the business traveler in those times, me, Indeed, many business conventions attended there, If readers recalled they were called Comdex, The close by Ave Paulista is the grand avenue for stores ,shopping in the area, It is the most popular avenue of the city (yes) concentrates all that is best in São Paulo. It is possible to visit museums and cultural centers, find a park amid great skyscrapers, check book launchings, enjoy the happy hour in one of its many bars, enjoy the evening at nightclubs, watch theatrical performances and movie sessions of the most diverse productions, and go shopping: all in one place! My hotel was based very near it while attending Comdex,(see post),
I as a regular citizen did groceries here and my best in the Sao Paulo area were the Atacadao hypermarket (part of Carrefour France) ,near the airport at Guarulhos; on my way to hotel and the road warrior in me, Webpage : https://www.atacadao.com.br/lojas/guarulhos-centro

On our way back driving around busy Sao Paulo we got into another supermarket because it had a cafeteria and had lunch there as well as more shopping ! We went to Makro Hypermarket Vila Maria (part of a Dutch group) around the same area as above, Lunch at the good restaurant Comandaia; these are always found attach to one of the hypermarkets; all real people real Brazil experiences. webpage: https://www.makro.com.br/lojasmakro

We even got close to the Guarulhos international airport, more ways than going in and out on my road warrior mode Brazilian style !! It was always my entry point to Brazil, sometimes out. Only 25 km from Sao Paulo ! The airport has 4 terminals, The terminal 2 and 3 is open 24 h/24.Terminal 3 was finished in 2014. Both terminal welcome international passengers with T3 dedicated to long carrier distances. Terminal 1 is a bit away and dedicated to domestic flights.with T4 for cargo, Official webpage : https://www.gru.com.br/pt/passageiro
