Looking at my vault, found some older pictures on paper and took my electronic camera to take picture of the pictures and use them in my blog. This allows me to show in my blog places not shown or pics with new angles of places shown in the blog. Nostalgia sets in and here I go on the curiosities of Madrid, part I !!! The
Prado Museum has the most complete collection of Spanish painting in the world. The visit can begin with the 11th century, with the Mozarabic frescoes in the San Baudelio church in Berlanga The Golden Age is largely represented by works by Ribera, Zurbarán and Murillo helping us to understand the context in which the painting appeared by Velásquez, which culminates in the paintings Las Meninas and The Spinners, also on display at the museum. Italian painting, essential for understanding the passage from medieval art to the Renaissance, also shows a very strong influence on Spanish Baroque art. The Flemish school is very well represented, due to the political links between the Spanish monarchy and Flanders. The old
Villanueva building houses a large part of the painting, sculpture and decorative arts collections. Adjoining the rear facade, around the cloister of Los Jerónimos, built several rooms dedicated to temporary exhibitions and restoration workshops, as well as an auditorium, cafeteria, restaurant and offices. Another of the museum buildings is
El Casón: this was the former ballroom of the now defunct
Buen Retiro Palace. Nowadays, this space houses the library and the reading room reserved for researchers. Early on my twins on pic below.

Palacio de Cristal del Retiro park is an emblematic example of what is known as iron architecture in
Madrid. Originally designed as a gigantic greenhouse to house tropical plants for the Philippine Islands Exposition of 1887, the building is now one of the headquarters of the
Reina Sofía Museum hosting temporary exhibitions.

The
Palace of Velázquez was built in
Retiro Park between 1881 and 1883 on the occasion of the National Mining Exhibition, which took place in the city from May to November 1883 It is a building covered with a glass roof supported by iron vaults which allow the rooms to be lit naturally. it was built with bricks of two colors, as well as with earthenware from the Royal Factory of La Moncloa. Currently, it belongs to the Ministry of Culture, which uses it as a temporary exhibition hall for the

My background comes all the way from Candelaria and Pajara in Tenerife, Spain where my grandparents came from ;not knowing each other then, to Punta Brava, west of Havana, Cuba. There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
Moving average a home every 5.5 years hopefully this will be my last. Cheers
