This is North Miami !!!

Now far away in my new neck of the woods, the Morbihan Breton, reminds me again of my Florida, The old Central and South Florida of my family and birthplace of my 3 sons, and I am nostalgic enough to tell you about other towns fond of us over the years. After doing the trajects America ,Europe, America , and back to Europe, I found me a picture in my cd rom vault that should be in my blog for you and me, I like to remind myself of North Miami, my first foothold in South Florida ! And renting apartment ! For the first time, Therefore, here is my take on this is North Miami !!! Hope you enjoy it as I.

The City of North Miami is 12 miles or 19 km from Miami, 15 miles or 24 km from Hialeah, 7 miles or 11 km from Aventura, 21 miles or 34 km from Fort Lauderdale, and 14 miles or 23 km from our last home in FL Miramar Silver Lakes division, We left here to our purchase home first in Hialeah taking the Palmetto Expressway or SR 826 north then go around same road dir Beaches and get on I95 south to exit 10A and into NE 125th Street east towards the beaches ,it becomes the NE 123rd street continue to Biscayen Blvd turn left dir north and turn right onto NE 135th St at Keytones marina to our apartment Chart House no 2345, I can still do the route without gps!

This was our first foot on Dade County or later Miam-Dade county was North Miami, The city lies on Biscayne Bay. Originally the town of “Arch Creek”, the area was incorporated as the “Town of Miami Shores”, which was renamed the “Town of North Miami” in 1931. It was reincorporated as a city in 1953. It hosts the Biscayne Bay Campus of Florida International University which was behind our apart complet. It built a Spanish-Mediterranean style city hall building at N.E. 8th Avenue and 125th Street in 1928. The City Hall also housed the police and fire departments, At the end of WWWII in 1945, the large and constant influx of former military veterans and their young families changed the face of North Miami by ushering in a great growth period, Lately it has lots of newcomers from the West Indies/Caribbean area,

Some of the things to see in North Miami are: The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) ,The Miami Auto Museum with large collection of classic cars, Hollywood cars, mini cars, scooters, motorcycles and bicycles from the collection of Michael Dezer, The city is also home to the Oleta River State Park, which is the state’s largest urban park. It sits on 1,043 acres (4.22 km2) 993 acres (4.02 km2) of land and 50 acres (0.20 km2) of inland water on Biscayne Bay; the park contains one of the largest concentrations of Australian pine trees found in a Florida state park, The Arch Creek Park opened in 1982. Today, Arch Creek is an 8-acre (32,000 m2) site at the junction of N.E. 135th Street (right where our apt was !!!) and Biscayne Boulevard, and offers many opportunities for botanical, historical and archaeological study. It has a museum/nature center modeled after an early Florida pioneer home, displaying Indian artifacts dug from the grounds, and live animals from the nearby hammock. Remains of the original coontie mill are still visible across the creek, and the park exists as the only preserved archaeological site in the County, and offers many opportunities for botanical, historical and archaeological study.
