The Warner Bros. Harry Potter Studio Tour London, the Great Hall !!!

This time took my road warrior skills to go again to jolly England with the Le Shuttle train service (see post), and my Ford ; towing along my good boys and wonderful Rex! It was a very nice trip going into the countryside and seeing several towns of wonderul architecture and history (see posts), This one is a must and the main reason we made this trip for my boys, who love it !!! and, we will be back, eventually, Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter is located inside Leavesden Studios, near Watford, in southwest Hertfordshire ,about 30 km from London, We came here after visiting High Wycombe (see post), 25 miles (34 km) away, I have a couple of other posts from the first trip but this will individualise on each attraction in the studio, Therefore, let me tell you about the Warner Bros. Harry Potter Studio Tour London, the Great Hall !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The Great Hall was first built for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in 2000 and was used as a key set for seven more films. The spectacular Great Hall includes the costumes of students from each Hogwarts house plus two large tables which are set for dinner; at the top of the room is the teachers’ table where the Hogwarts Professors sat. The Great Hall is home to some of the beautiful hand crafted props created for the Harry Potter film series including Professor Dumbledore’s lectern and the House Points Counter. Though rarely seen on screen, it is rumoured that when the House Points Counter was first built it caused a national shortage of Indian glass beads.

The Great Hall was the ideal dining place for not only students but also several of the school’s mystifying guests, and the Studio Tour is home to the authentic costumes of these fan-favourite characters. During our Dark Arts feature at Halloween, you’ll even be able to see costumes belonging to the castle’s more haunting guests: the Bloody Baron, the Fat Friar, Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington and Helena Ravenclaw.

Taking inspiration from the Muggle world, the set was designed to resemble the 16C hall in the famous Oxford College, Christ Church. Even the dimensions were replicated, with the impressive Great Hall standing at almost 120 feet by 40 feet and seating 400 children! Using filmmaking trickery to add a few magical touches, such as an enchanted ceiling and an array of floating candles, the set took the form of the spellbinding Great Hall fans have grown to love. We do !!!
