Curiosities of Broward county, Florida !!!

I am back at you with my dear Florida,  I have decided to split several random posts into a more regional basis in the state and do this post with the older pictures , After all, this was my dear Florida , and they deserve more space in my blog, me think, It is here for the memories of always, and family times. This is a marvelous beautiful area that should be visited more me think, Therefore, here is my take on curiosities of Broward county, Florida !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The Hollywood Beach was the closest to my last home in the USA. We went from the west of I 75 highway all out east on Hollywood Blvd which becomes Pines Boulevard you could have reach my house in 35 minutes by car! Hollywood is a city in Broward county, and many times confused with that other famous town out west…In 1920, Joseph Young arrived in South Florida to create his own dream city in Florida. His vision included the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean stretching westward with man-made lakes, infrastructure, roads, and the Intracoastal Waterway. He wanted to include large parks, schools, churches, and golf courses; these were all industries and activities that were very important to Young’s life. He almost did exactly that with the help of many others.

The one-of-a-kind Hollywood Beach Broadwalk is a promenade that stretches nearly 2.5 miles along the Atlantic Ocean. Named one of America’s Best Beach Boardwalks by Travel + Leisure magazine, this brick-paved thoroughfare hosts pedestrians, joggers, bicyclists, rollerbladers, and millions of visitors every year. The promenade also features the Hollywood Beach Theatre, a children’s water playground at Charnow Park, public art displays, and many other attractions. Hollywood Beach also offers dozens of luxury hotels and condominiums. A newly reconstructed path for walkers, bicycle lane and jogging path. Outdoor cafes from organic farmers market and juice bar, to gourmet meals and ice cream cones, you name it is here.  Parking is available on side streets or in parking garages for a fee, and public trolleys run through the day. Awesome, and lots of nice family memories forever!

The main NBC tv station for South Florida was near my old home and passed by it everyday on the I-75, Location : 15000 SW 27th St, Miramar WTVJ is an owned-and-operated television station of the NBC television network, located in Broward County. WTVJ shares its TV studio and office facility with co-owned Telemundo station WSCV channel 51 (Spanish) in Miramar, and its transmitter is located near Sun Life Stadium in north Miami-Dade County.

Even thus not played tennis had wonderful sports parks near my former last home in Silver Lakes, Miramar Florida, One of these was the Silver Lakes Tennis complex at 3198 SW 176th Terrace What I did here was to take my little boys to practice baseball hitting and soccer/football in an adjacent open field walking distance from our house !! The Blockbuster Video at 18201 Pines Blvd, Pembroke Pines was created by Fort Lauderdale billionaire H. Wayne Huizenga ,and they became a ubiquitous part of American shopping centers.with a handful of stores in 1987. It had become the country’s leading movie rental chain by 1994, when it was sold to Viacom ,then Dish took over the following year, and all sadly finally closed in 2013, We were loyal customers of many rentals here and fond memories with family movies, Here for the memories forever

The Croissan’Time Bakery at 1201 N Federal Hwy, Fort Lauderdale, This bistro, bakery, and grocery store opened in 1986 by Bernard Casse, from  Port-Sainte-Marie in the region of Lot & Garonne France and very nice guy!! We came here for everything French. He had started as a bakery in the southwest of France in the 1960’s and arrived in the USA in 1978. He began working in several establishments such as the prestigious La Grenouille, New York, before starting his own business.  In his team there was also Matthieu Cartron, that had worked in France, Saint-Martin, and New York, that came to lent a hand as well as the baker Garry Petigny. All the breads of Croissan’Time  are done on site from scratch à la Française bien sûr!!!  Love it we were regular customers every week here !! The Dania Beach fronton opened on Dec. 28, 1953 and earlier on Nov 2021, there was an announcement that the jai alai run in Dania Beach was over, but the demise of the sport proved to be premature. Today, there is a 500-seat grandstand along with standing areas. It was closed due to low attendance in November 2021 but has come back on a limited basis, The Dania casino fronton is located at 301 E Dania Beach Blvd,Dania Beach, The origins of jai alai can be traced back to the 1700s in Europe with the concentration of the sport taking place mainly in Spain and FranceJai alai was introduced to the United States in 1904. Iconic figures like Babe Ruth, Jackie Gleason, Ernest Hemingway, Hubert Humphrey, Rocky Marciano, Paul Newman, Sylvester Stallone and John Travolta cheered on the elite athletes who would fling the pelota at 160 mph and catch it with their handheld wicker cesta. The town of Dania Beach is located in Broward County, Florida. The town was founded in 1898 under the name Modello. Most of the 35 inhabitants at the time were from Denmark, they renamed the town Dania in November 1904, when it was incorporated. The current name dates from 1999, although the town continues to be called Dania.  I was here !! and found me a picture in my vault of memories !!!  The official Dania Casino Jai Alai fronton  :  https://www.casinodaniabeach.com/jai-alai/
