I used to lived not far from here, and came often ,as well as worked, Did it all in the eternal beautiful City and this is one off the beaten path monument that is worth the detour, Once again this is Paris, in the same name dept 75 Paris, region of Île de France. I found me an older paper picture and needed to have it in my blog. Therefore, let me tell you on the Church Saint Jacques-Saint Christophe of Paris, part I !!! Hope you enjoy as I
The Church Saint Jacques-Saint Christophe is located at 6 Place de Bitche between the square Serge Reggiani and the Place de Joinville in the 19éme arrondissement of Paris, It was built between 1841 and 1844, To reach, the closest metro are line 7 Crimée and line 5 Laumiére The outside of the Church is of neo-classical style, and bordered, on its facade, by a pleasant square with a music kiosk. Finally the Ourcq canal is a stone’s throw away. In the heart of Paris, the site is quite exotic.
The Church Saint Jacques-Saint Christophe is of neoclassical style, designed according to the model of Paleochretian basilicas. The facade is dominated by a porch, of Italian inspiration, at 2 levels. The first level includes Corinthian pilasters and, on both sides of the entrance, two niches shelter the statue of the two holy patrons of the church. The nave is separated from the aisles by alignment of Doric columns, fluted in their upper part, which support a row of tall windows. The central nave is covered with a ceiling with painted wooden boxes. The choir was renovated from 1930 to 1933.

You can see inside the Pulpit in marble, with a bas-relief dated 1844, Christ converting the nations of the land . A little statue of Saint Antoine de Padoue, a life size of Saint Christophe bearing the Child Jesus. The Church has one of the copies of the famous statue of Saint Peter in the Saint-Pierre Basilica of Rome produced by Arnolfo di Cambio. Paint in the Choir of 1930, representing “Jacob” on the left and “Saint Christophe” on the right. The baptismal font decorated with the psalms of Renaissance style, placed in the center of the nave. The apse of the choir has seven canopies representing the risen Jesus surrounded by two angels, all three on a red background; of Saint Jacques and Saint Christophe on a green background; of Saint Paul and Saint Peter on a blue background. The current organ was built by Suret in 1860, renovated many times read was in 1984.
A bit of history I like tell us that at the end of the 14C, the parish church of the Villette, an agricultural area located in a fertile plain in the northeast of Paris where cereals are cultivated, fruit trees, vegetable crops and vines, was built on the old Roman road taken by the pilgrims of Saint-James of Compostela, connecting Paris to Flanders, via Senlis and Germany. Following in particular the drilling of the Ourcq canal, justifies the construction of a new church and a royal ordinance of November 17, 1837 authorized the city to acquire land for this purpose. The choice is made on a plot along the Ourcq canal,
