The Mercado de Bom Sucesso of Porto !!!

I am going to update this older post with new text and links for you and me. One of my memorable trips was going by car to Porto from Lisbon. Eventually flew back home from there see posts, Always heard of Porto and love the drink, and finally was there. I have several posts but feels this one needed an update, Therefore, here is my take on the Mercado de Bom Sucesso of Porto !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The highlight of my stayed in this area, was the Mercado de Bom Sucesso market. This is just turning right from my hotel on about 100 meters, excellent ambiance, great food, and friendly staffs with full of locals. I went here for a tour walk around one night as had friends picking me up, and then came back to eat a wonderful seafood rice and scallops on shell with a good local red wine for less than 14€ , this was at the Mariscaria Bom Sucesso inside the mercado or market. A wonderful moment good food and good company at reasonable prices, tops!

The Mercado de Bom Sucesso market architecturally mixes tradition and modernity. To see, there reigns a different atmosphere than in other markets. There are classic fresh products (fish, meat, vegetables) but there is also a section with gastronomic products only Portuguese and a restaurant area. Of course, the market is more than just restaurant, bars and seafood stands, there is also some shopping stores and souvenirs of local craft inside. Worth a visit on any given day/night. Emphasis is placed on promoting the made in Portugal. It was created in 1949 , opened in 1952, and totally renovated in 2013, In 2021 a new concept as Continente Bom Dia was open with a total of 26 newsstands and 40 shops and restaurants (outside and inside), served by a seating area.

There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
