My shopping in Madrid, part V !!!

We are back to my dear Spain again !! love it !! We came by car of course and took time to see new areas and old repeat as could not be in Spain without stopping in my Madrid! I came again with my boys and dog Rex, and it was a thrill as usual! I like to tell you more of Madrid to heaven and a hole in the sky to look down on it everyday !!! The city of Madrid is the capital of the kingdom of Spain, and located in the Comunidad de Madrid region From my latest escapes it is 211 km from Valladolid City , 198 km from our rental house in Velliza, 183 km from Tordesillas, 172 km from Rueda, 159 km from Medina del Campo, 199 km from Simancas, We made long walks all over the City , and took the metro when necessary, three times. I love to tell you of our latest escape to the wonderful City, for the memories of always and return, eventually.

I always buy many things when coming to Madrid, but one that cannot be missed are Turrones or nougats, the Jijona kinds the best in the world since I was born !!! And now gladly , my sons are taking over and do enjoy them a lot, So I chose the Casa 1880 at Calle Mayor 9 for our load and we all purchase some and again the delicious Turron liquor (sort of like Baileys) with a delicious nougat taste and 70% alcohol content lol ! Of course, we purchase chocolates too, However the turrons were the prime event and delicious as you can taste them in the store as well !! We will be back !!

The ZapShop at the Puerta Del Sol; it so happen this is now their newest and flagship store with the admin office on the upper levels! The prices were great as I got my pair of shoes again ,and they are/were very comfortable!   The chain ZapShop has managed to sneak in the last year in the ‘prime’ areas of the center of Madrid. It specializing in low cost footwear, has ten stores in the city, almost all located in city center/downtown. However, it also occupies its lines with Pepe Milan, a brand based in Almansa (Albacete), with a higher price than its chain footwear. The company carries out its production in Elche (Alicante) and in Asia, mainly in China and introduces between twenty and thirty new models in stores every week. I did purchase a different model this time nice! We will be back,

The Canalejas Madrid Center (CCM), which joins seven historical buildings , hosts, in addition to the Galeria Canalejas, the first Four Seasons hotel in Spain, 22 branded residences, and a new parking lot with more of 400 spaces with direct access to both the gallery and the hotel. Between the streets of Alcalá, Sevilla, Plaza de Canalejas and Carrera de San Jerónimo. In 1887 the New York insurer The Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States commissioned the construction of its Madrid headquarters at the intersection of Sevilla and Alcalá streets. Known as the Palacio de la Equitativa, this building also housed homes, the old Casino de Madrid and businesses such as the recognized Sainz jewelry, On June 1, 1902 , the American Hispanic Bank more than a century later, its sculptural facade of neorrena -school and neo -baroque styles looks carefully restored as the main entrance of Galeria Canalejas at No 1 of the Plaza Canalejas. On May 6, 1922, the headquarters of the Spanish Credit Bank in the presence of King Alfonso XIII, opened, In Janauray 1942, was inaugurated in the Palacio de la Equitativa., Banco Zaragozano opened the doors of its new headquarters at Calle de Alcalà 10 . On the facade, the extraordinary frieze in relief and the amazing wrough iron Art Deco stand out. At present, these elements delight visitors again as entrance hall to Galeria Canalejas. In 1999, the Hispanic Central Bank , former American Hispanic Bank and the Santander Bank, owner of the Spanish Credit Bank, merged into a bank operation as the union of its main headquarters. In this way, the conglomerate of the Hispanic central with the Equitable Palace is connected internally. In 2012, the OHL – currently OHLA Canalejas Madrid Group that includes, in addition to the three plants occupied by Canalejas Gallery, the first Four Seasons hotel, In 2020 the first boutique opens its doors in the same place and with the same vocation as 130 years ago to occupy that mythical Sainz jewelry in the Palacio de la Equitativa, A total of 8,000 square meters of facades and more than 17,000 historical pieces have been restored by Canalejas Madrid Center through handmade techniques, some almost extinguished and now used again for the laborious rehabilitation of every detail. There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
