The City of Medina del Campo is located in the province of Valladolid and the autonomous community of Castilla y Léon in the kingdom of Spain, It is 54 km from Valladolid City , 42 km from our rental house in Velliza, and 160 km from Madrid, This was a very nice visit, and a great talkative guy who loves dogs ,he has a dalmatian and came out of the museum to show us pictures of it. Our Dog was not allowed inside but had fun talking about our love of dogs!! Memories to be back, eventually.

The Museo de las Ferias is located at Calle San Martín, 26 ; the only museum of its genre in Spain, It illustrates the history of the habitual goods and financial fairs in the 15-16C, which put Medina del Campo in a highlight in the time . It has a permanent collection and houses temporary exhibitions. The story goes that the first proposals for the creation of a historical-artistic museum in the city date back to 1887, when a local newspaper denounced the state of abandonment of numerous old monuments, In 1997 the first consultations between the City Council and museum professionals are undertaken, and In March 1998, the museum is set up in the former church San Martín, which already was reformed as Auditorium. The inauguration of the Fairs Museum took place on April 5, 2000, and months later a foundation for its management was established.

The Museo de las Ferias aims to show the historical-artistic richness that the city’s treasures. It focuses above all as regards the world of commercial transactions and their implications in social and cultural fields. Special dedication is provided to the 15-16C, when the city stands out internationally for its famous fairs.

Also in the city, paper was stored to print. The variety of goods that were marketed in the city is represented in the museum with pharmacy boats, bells imported from mesh, nuremberg brass trays, eastern lacquered arches .etc, The museum also houses an extensive numismatic collection, financial documentation and instruments for weight control and currencies.

      1. That’s the great thing about ignorance, we are all capable of learning. Stupidity is something completely different. I just feel very ill at ease not being able to communicate in the way I can in French speaking or German speaking countries. It’s always a pleasure to read your articles and to “stop by!”
