Curiosities of Paris, part IX !!!

Looking at my vault, found some older pictures of places written before but really need to include them in my blog. These are from my eternal Paris and brings back many memorable moments of my life,   Nostalgia sets in and here I go on the curiosities of Paris, Part IX !!! The pictures are from wonderful monuments worth the detour, I have added a brief description of the places,  but see my other posts for more information and pictures on them. Hope you enjoy these marvels of my eternal Paris as I.

The original Palais Brongniart (see posts) palace was done in a neoclassical style, the building originally appeared as a rectangle 69 meters long by 41 meters wide. Placed on a base of 2.60 meters, it is surrounded by a peristyle composed of 64 Corinthian columns. Its metal roof dates from 1815. In 1902-1907, two short wings to the north and south were added by the architect Jean-Baptiste Clavel, giving a Greek cross plan. On the Rue Vivienne side, the steps are flanked by allegorical statues of Commerce done by Augustin Dumont, and Justice done by François Duret, and on the Rue Notre-Dame des Victoires side, by Agriculture done by Charles Seurre, and Industry done by James Pradier. Inside, the main staircase leads to the floor formerly occupied by the former room of the Commercial Court. On this floor, a glazed gallery overlooks the former large trading room or corbeille room located on the ground floor. Among the decorations, grisailles by Abel de Pujol and Charles Meynier depict cities in France. It is open on special events but worth the look out to see it inside !

The pretty quant market at the Place de la Bourse in front of the Palais Brogniart held on Wednesdays and Fridays afternoons. The prices there are quite high, but it is one of the only afternoon markets in Paris, and it goes with the neighborhood. I love these markets so needed to stop by when attending function in the palace.

There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting. Moving average a home every 5.5 years hopefully this will be my last. Cheers All rights reserved.
