I have a previous post with lots of history so will keep this post short just for the new pictures from above the aqueduct of Segovia, There is niche with statues in the arches this was done with a solemn celebration and procession, the statues of the Virgin and Saint Sebastian were placed in the aqueduct on March 21 and 30, 1520. They remained there since then, showing the devotion of the city, to guard and protect it.

The stones in the aqueduct has been calculated to weigh between 1 and 2 tons: They are carved ashlar by ashlar, stone by stone, and placed one on top of the other, According to historians, the Romans used nothing more and nothing less than a total of 20,400 granite stones or ashlars to build this Aqueduct, which is almost 30 meters high, and which was an essential tool for transporting water in City center,

The arch of the aqueduct measures 1,280 meters in length and the pipe runs over 74 stone arches, whose maximum height is 23 meters with a latitude of 13, supported by masonry pillars more than 3 and a half meters square. The first section of the Segovia aqueduct contains 36 semicircular arches, rebuilt in the 15C to restore a part destroyed by the Moors in 1072. The line of arches is organized into two levels, decorated in a simple way, in which simple molds They hold the frame and provide support to the structure. On the upper level, the arches are 5 meters wide.
