My historical monuments in the Retiro park of Madrid !!!

It was home away from home and just love it enormously, can’t visit Madrid without been at the Parque del Buen Retiro! I have become nostalgic again, and came back again last week for another look and new pictures for the memories of always, have several posts in my blog because not only is my Madrid ,but lived there in beautiful moments of my life; my Retiro, my Madrid !!!Therefore, let me tell you about my historical monuments in the Retiro park of Madrid !!! I had to come back to the Retiro park, yes it had to be after all the walks all over the center needed to gain my strenght to be back here and walk its memorable pathways and see its historical monuments, Especially the moments as a boy with my dear late Mom Gladys , my late  Dad Elio ,and later my dear late wife Martine , I came with the boys for the education of life once again. Even here, my journey with what later became my wife started, it was her first trip to Spain and I took her of course here back in 1990 and the Retiro was grand again ; she always loved to come here each year with me and then with the boys. I can say my life can be resume with one word Retiro. This is Madrid at its best, yes I know ,there are many wonderful monuments and great museums people go to, but for me this is it. If can only have time for one thing would be to come to the Retiro park.

As it relates to the history of two dear countries of mine, let me show you here briefly two wonderful monument to Cuba and Spain, Bonds forever, or as my late paternal grandfather Manolo used to said, blood is thicker than water.

The Monumento General Martinez Campos, done in 1907 at the Plaza de Guatemala behind the monument to Alfonso XII, is an equestrian statue in bronze. He was sent to Cuba to try to pacified the independence rebellion in vain, In the monument it is mentioned this historical fact,

The Monumento to the Republic of Cuba ,done in 1929 at the plaza del Salvador, as a monument to the nation of Cuba and to honor similar monument in Havana, Cuba to Spain. It is now a special spot in the Retiro park for us.

There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting. Moving average a home every 5.5 years hopefully this will be my last. Cheers All rights reserved.
