Many memorable moments with family there, here, everywhere Madrid is more than a city I told you! And there are within some special places dear to me. I like to update this older post split from another as they will be no longer there with the renovations to the sublime Santiago Bernabeu Stadium ! The Esquina del Bernabeu or the Bernabeu corner was an institution to many followers of the Real Madrid CF, modernity wins but this place will be sorely missed, Therefore, let me step back in history now and tell you about my Esquina del Bernabeu of Madrid !!! As said, a memorable spot in my dear Madrid, cannot count the times here but the memories will be forever. I not only came to shop but to eat out here as right in this corner were several chain reaturants. Lucky enough to be able to be back and see them often. Memories forever !
I ,of course, need to visit the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu each time there even if no games are played. The TGIFridays in the La Esquina del Bernabeu building by the plaza del Sagrado Corazon,and avenida Concha Espina. The TGIFridays was great as reminded me of visited them in Florida USA, My burger, bacon and fries and a jarra or pint of Mahou Cinco Estrellas Madrid beer; all with a nice view of the square or plaza Sagrado Corazon. It was sublime !! with a nice view of the streets,
Of course, other memorable places to eat at the Esquina del Bernabeu were La Esquina Asador-Sidreria,Tony Roma’s, and El Arroceria, Burger King Shopping you had Geox, and Dia supermarket, and there was the official Real Madrid store, Close to the stadium you still have the AZCA or Moda complex of stores for shopping/eat (see post),
Now arriving in Madrid ,how to get to the stadium? again easy all roads lead to Bernabéu! I have use them all and the car is still best ! Only you need to be there early underground parking available or nearby. Then, you can walk from your hotel -2km is a good walking distance here go ahead! Then ,for the more social transport folks there is the cercanias or suburban trains, where you will reach the station Nuevos Ministerios (see post). Afterward you can walk about 10 minutes . You have last I counted 7 bus lines passing by the stadium . And of course, the metro/subway/tube on line 10 Santiago Bernabéu go up on the stadium exit , then once out turn to your right and see the Stadium!!! If you arrive from other city in Spain usually by Atochathen takeline 1 metroto stop Tribunal, and the the above mentioned line 10. If you are looking for a hotel for a game there, or just to see Madrid away from the tourist hordes, than I recommend the one I have always use when in town for a game ,and not with family; Holiday Inn Plaza de Carlos Trias Bertrán, 4. The volume of the building will be adjusted with the demolition of the La Esquina del Bernabéu Shopping Center, (memories forever!) the extension of the virtual alignments necessary for the new facades, the reconfiguration of the Castellana towers and a 21-meter flight without structural supports to form a large entrance atrium to the Tour and the stadium on the west side. There is a new stadium to be finished completely by December 2023. The Esquina will be gone, history forever so many days and nights of passion and love. At least I took some pictures for the memories of always.
