Nostalgic Hialeah !!!

Ok this is not the best tourist spot in south Florida but a sentimental favorite as for a while we used to lived there and my twins boys were born at Hialeah Hospital ! And even if briefly mentioned in other posts, it really needs a post of its own, me think, Going down memory lane again with wonderful family experiences to remember forever, Therefore, here is my tribute to nostalgic Hialeah !!! for all times’s sake, Hope you enjoy the post as I.

Hialeah

Hialeah is located in Miami-Dade County,State of Florida, USA. It is located in a large prairie between Biscayne Bay and the Everglades. The origin of the town’s name is most often attributed to the Muskogee people. Hialeah would be composed of Haiyakpo (meadow) and hili (pretty), Hialeah would then mean pretty meadow. This high prairie caught the eye of pioneer aviator Glenn Curtiss and Missouri cattleman James H. Bright in 1921 Together, they developed not only the town of Hialeah but also Hialeah Park Race Track. Below pic my dear late wife Martine and oldest boy waiting for the house above to be built new!

The opening of the horse racing course at Hialeah Park Race Track in 1925 , which was nicknamed the “Grand Dame” received more coverage in the Miami media than any other sporting event in the history of Dade County (current Miami-Dade county) up to that time and since then there have been countless horse racing histories played out at the world-famous 220-acre park. It was considered one of the most grand thoroughbred horse racing parks with its majestic Mediterranean style architecture and was considered the Jewel of Hialeah at the time The park’s grandeur has attracted millions, included among them are names known around the world such as the Kennedy family, Harry Truman, General Omar Bradley, Winston Churchill, (1949) and J.P. Morgan. Below pic my dear late mother Gladys and me way back !!! on the Hialeah Park Race Track of old !!!

While Hialeah was once envisioned as a playground for the elite, Cuban exiles fleeing Castro’s 1959 revolution, as well as World War II veterans and city planners, transformed the city into a working-class community. It is today one of the most influence and spoken Spanish language cities in the USAHialeah is currently served by Miami-Dade Transit along major thoroughfares by Metrobus, and by the Miami Metrorail, Tri-Rail, and Amtrak trains, Sitting in the heart of northwest Miami-Dade county, Hialeah has access to several major thoroughfares, linked by: I-75 , Palmetto Expressway or SR826 , Homestead Extension of the Florida’s Turnpike, Okeechobee road or US Route 27, and Gratigny Parkway or SR924.

Some of the things to see in Hialeah are: Great transport hub served by the Miami Metrorail at Okeechobee, Hialeah, and Tri-Rail/Metrorail Transfer stations. The Okeechobee and Hialeah stations serve primarily as park-and-ride commuter stations to commuters and residents going into City center/downtown Miami, and Tri-Rail station to Miami International Airport and north to West Palm Beach. The Hialeah Park Race Track is a historic racetrack on a site covering 40 square blocks of central-east side from Palm Avenue east to East 4th Avenue, and from East 22nd Street on the south to East 32nd Street on the north. The Hialeah Park Race Track is served by the Miami Metrorail at the Hialeah Station at Palm Avenue and East 21st Street.

A wonderful 18 years in the State of Florida living in several cities including Hialeah. Memories that will not go away easy. The State was sunshine, friendly, and happy; so many things to do it will take an entire blog history to tell. From here went to my belle France in 2003, and came back with the family in 2009 and a couple days business conference in 2016. Life moves on, but the memories remain.
