In my travels to my dear Spain, I have the great opportunity to visit many towns and regions over the years. I am lucky to be close and visit every year. I have written plenty on Galicia in my blog and this was hidden in an older post that I decided to bring out on its own and show you a bit of this is Sada in Galicia !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I
I needed to visit my branch office/factory there and took advantage to go out eat with the management and then taken a ride around town. Very nice opportunity to see something new of my dear Spain. This is Sada on the shadows of A Coruña ! Sada is a coastal town, with fishing and tourism as its main industries. Its sheltered beaches are ideal for swimming, fishing, and scuba diving, and are well-known in the area, such as Arnela, Cirro, and San Pedro.
The N-VI highway from Madrid to A Coruña passes through this area at km marker 581, in the town of Espíritu Santo. From A Coruña, it can be reached directly via the LC-174 road, A road with various names begins in Perillo (LC-173) and runs along the entire perimeter of the Las Mariñas peninsula, passes through Sada (LC-162), and continues to connect with the N-VI at La Angustia, near Betanzos. This road leads to the entrance of the AP-9 autovia, from A Coruña to Santiago, in Santa Marta de Babío. The town is 18 km from A Coruña, 116 km from Xove, 89 km from Lugo and 587 km Madrid, I always was taken here from Coruña by car,
I took a peek of the marina and drove around sort of like in my road warrior trails, and can tell you the best in Sada is the port marina. The Marina Sada aka as the Port Sada or Puerto Deportivo Sada located right in the main town, Other things to see are the Museum Carlos Maside, and the Church of Santa María de Sada, dating from the 18-19C. Sada has several beaches but only saw afar, they seems to be very nice,
I had my lunch always at the Cafeteria Restaurant Al Paso; you get your buffet style place with a drink and dessert and coffee for about 15 euros; nice local ambiance and quiet family place. Located at Carretera N-VI, km 582 N1, Espiritu Santo, Sada. I have read it has closed, sadly, will keep here for the memories of always, the factory/office was just walking from it; see pic,

Other than the beaches and port, you might find time to visit the Carlos Maside Museum and the Laboratory of Forms, by Pazo de Meirás : the former summer residence of Emilia Pardo Bazán, a Spanish novelist, journalist, essayist, literary critic, poet, playwright, translator, editor, professor, and lecturer who introduced naturalism to Spain, and later of the General/dictator Francisco Franco.
A bit of history tell us in the Middle Ages information on the town is poorly documented. References to Sada during this period are scarce. We know of its noble and ecclesiastical dependence, specifically on the families of the Counts of Présaras and later the Counts of Andrade; and on the monasteries of San Martín de Jubia and especially Sobrado, which probably owned a farm in Samoedo, primarily dedicated to wine production. Throughout this period, Sada suffered invasions and pillaging: the Normans in 846 and 859, Almanzor in 997, and the Duke of Lancaster in 1379. A significant change occurred in Sada’s history in 1812 when new towns were formed by merging the old parishes. The eight current parishes, were incorporated into the town of Sada. There is little information about those years, but the significant role the town played during the War of Independence (Peninsular war) is known, during which the castles of Fontán and Corbeiroa regained their defensive functions. There is hardly any documentation about the first half of the 19C, as the oldest surviving municipal records date from the 1850s. In 1873, with the proclamation of the First Spanish Republic, the federalist tendency triumphed in Sada. After the republican victory in most cities in the 1931 municipal elections and the subsequent proclamation of the republic, a new council was formed in Sada. The military coup of July 1936 was announced in Sada on the 18th, and the Nationalists took the city on the 23rd.
