Latest figures tell us that 70% of wine tourists choose to visit wineries over museums. In 2024, 75% of visitors were Spanish and 25% foreign. The Spanish Association of Wine Cities (ACEVIN) presented this past Thursday October 2 2025 in Alcázar de San Juan the 17th Annual Report on Visits to Wineries and Wine Museums associated with the Wine Routes of Spain. The report, prepared by the Tourism Observatory of the Wine Routes of Spain, collects data corresponding to the year 2024 and analyzes the evolution of wine tourism demand in the country. According to the report, during 2024 the wineries and museums integrated in the Wine Routes of Spain received a total of 3,036,878 visitors. This figure represents an increase of 2.22% compared to 2023, when 2,970,864 visits were recorded. Historical analysis since 2008 shows that the sector has grown almost uninterruptedly until reaching its peak in 2019. The arrival of the pandemic in 2020 caused a sharp decline, but the following years have been marked by a rapid recovery and stabilization in the last two years. The Marco de Jerez Wine and Brandy Route was the most visited in 2024, followed by the Ribera del Duero Wine Route and the Penedès Wine Route. Other routes with high figures are Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa, Calatayud and the Rías Baixas Wine Route. . Growth has not been uniform across all regions. Extremadura has doubled its number of visitors compared to the previous year, with an increase of 101.6%. The Region of Murcia has also seen a significant increase, with 26.3% more visits, while Catalonia has recorded growth of 16.9%. In 2024, 70.19% of visits were to wineries, while 29.81% were to museums. Visits to wineries grew by 1.65% year-on-year, while visits to museums increased by 3.40%. The months of October, August, and May are the most visited, consolidating the deseasonalization of tourism.

The weather forecast for Rioja points to cooler nights, moderate daytime temperatures, and a lack of precipitation, a scenario that will favor continued ripening. This is part of the information contained in the sixth and final ripening bulletin for the DOC Rioja. “The report confirms that the health of the grapes and vegetation is extraordinary, which allows us to anticipate a high-quality harvest.” For the country as a whole, the Federación Española del Vino or Spanish Wine Federation anticipates a short, high-quality harvest that is abnormally late in the calendar.

The Sherry Week 2025 will be held from November 3 to 9 2025 on the streets of London, São Paulo, Tokyo, New York, Buenos Aires and Sydney, among many other locations. They are inspired by an ancient system, criaderas and soleras, which gives life in a few towns in the province of Cádiz to enormous and very different wines. The most accessible are fino and manzanilla. They are followed by amontillados, palos cortados, olorosos, pale cream, moscatel… Sometimes wonderfully dry. Other times with a certain sweetness and one of them, Pedro Ximénez, a striking, brutally sweet gem.  The official Sherry wines on Sherry Week 2025 : https://www.sherry.wine/sherryweek

The Félix Solís Avantis winery group, a benchmark in the Spanish and international wine sector, has been awarded, as last year, with the prestigious “Best Spanish Winery 2025” award at the AWC Vienna International Wine Challenge, the most important wine competition in the world by number of samples evaluated. So far in 2025, Félix Solís Avantis has obtained 318 medals in national and international competitions, 146 of them gold. These results endorse the diversity and excellence of the group’s portfolio, which has consolidated and widely recognized brands in more than 135 countries.  The official Grupo Félix Solis Avantis : https://felixsolisavantis.com/en/

Ramón Bilbao Gran Reserva 2001 was thanks to a production process that they describe as unprecedented, designed to commemorate the winery’s 100 anniversary. This is reflected in the label, which also reveals the extremely long periods of time and the characteristics that have marked the life of this wine. It belongs to an exceptional harvest in Rioja and is a limited edition. In fact, very limited, given that only just over two thousand bottles have existed. A red wine that has aged for ten years in barrels, eight in concrete tanks and wooden vats, and five in the bottle. It maintains a deep layer, exquisite freshness, and clear aromas that combine fruit with wood, wrapped in a smooth texture. A curious tactile sensation that sets it apart from any other gran reserva of special quality and makes its expression difficult to describe and impossible to compare. Made from Tempranillo (90%), Graciano, and Mazuelo (10%), The official Bodegas Ramon Bilbao : https://bodegasramonbilbao.com/en/

Rueda stands out as one of the great guardians of Spanish white wine. But beneath that light-gilded surface lies a secret older than the vines themselves: the soil. The Rueda D.O.P. delves into its intimate geography to reveal the potential of its land. The first step in this process was a preliminary division of the production area into two large zones determined by soil type. Zone 1 covers the towns in the northwest of the Denomination of Origin, including some of the most significant in terms of vineyard area, such as Nava del Rey, Rueda, and La Seca. This area is located south of the Duero river. Gravel horizons predominate on more clayey bases that can have a certain percentage of limestone, providing optimal conditions for the cultivation of the Verdejo variety. Zone 2, where towns such as Alcazarén, Nieva, Aldeanueva de Codonal, and Hornillos define a very distinct landscape. The altitude here is higher (in some cases exceeding 900 meters) and the climate is cooler, with slightly more rainfall overall. These conditions, along with the naturally poor soils, have historically favored the planting of vines, which is why in many cases they are cultivated using bush vines and many of them are ungrafted, a viticultural rarity in Spain.

Oro de Castilla Verdejo 2024 vintage is very fresh and aromatic. The slow ripening of the grapes translates into greater acidity and salinity and a delightfully complex character. Of all the winery’s wines, Oro de Castilla Verdejo is probably the most emblematic, full of that philosophy that marked a new destiny for the variety: looking to its future, believing that it could (can) defy time. The Familia Torres Colección Privada or the Torres’ family private collection is a limited and exclusive selection of the winery’s most emblematic wines, aged for a minimum of 10 years. It is aimed at private clients, collectors and prestigious restaurateurs. This new edition of Familia Torres Colección Privada features four wines that have marked the history of the winery: Mas La Plana, the Cabernet Sauvignon from Penedès whose first vintage from 1970 won the Paris Wine Olympics in 1979; Reserva Real, a wine with a Bordeaux profile from a small vineyard with slate soils that is very rare in the Penedès; Milmanda, one of the best Chardonnays in the country, born at the foot of the Sierra de Prades in the Conca de Barberà, and Grans Muralles, a blend of native varieties that has become the first exponent of the project to recover ancestral varieties initiated in the 1980s by Miguel A. Torres, current president of the Torres Family and a member of the fourth generation. To certify the authenticity and integrity of these select wines, each vintage is presented in an elegant dark wooden case, sealed with a wax seal and a ribbon indicating the relaunch date. Inside, you will find information about the wine and the vintage. The bottles retain their original labels and are prepared by hand, with special attention to every detail. One for the memories of always, this I was a subscriber for many years and have their books and magazines still in my library ! The Grupo Gourmets emerged from a magazine Club de Gourmets in 1976, where cooking and chefs occupied the largest space, followed by wine. Precisely at the time when female “uncovering” was a topic of interest in all guilds and whose first issue featured a barely dressed lady wearing vegetable leaves. It was truly the first gastronomic magazine to be installed in the most logical points of sale, such as newsstands and bookstores. After the excellent reception of the first issues of Club de Gourmets and these conferences, in 1979 the Gourmets Group launched what would become a new publishing success, Gourmetour, Gastronomic and Tourist Guide to Spain, a pioneering publication that offered travelers information on places of interest and restaurants in the country. A reference manual that published its last edition in 2011. In 1983, the Group embarked on a new adventure by publishing the Gourmets Wine Guide, a winemaking manual that includes wineries, specialty stores, wine-producing regions, and, of course, the best wines of Spain with tasting comments and ratings. Pioneering, rigorous, and constantly updated, it reached its 39th edition as a wine reference for professionals and enthusiasts. A few years later, in 1986, Grupo Gourmets decided to create an exclusive circle for wine and gastronomy lovers, the Vinos Gourmets and La Alacena Club. A select club with more than 6,000 members who receive a monthly selection of unique wines, chosen by the Tasting Committee, and delicatessen products at their homes. In 1987, the first edition of the Salón Gourmets, a Quality Food and Beverage Fair, was organized. The most important gastronomic event dedicated to high-end products in Europe had 73 exhibitors and 8,000 visitors at its first event, figures that have increased considerably year after year until reaching the current number. After a long history and with the experience gained over the years, the 37th edition of the Salón Gourmets was held in 2024, attended by more than 100,000 professionals and more than 2,000 exhibitors with more than 55,000 products that filled the five pavilions of this edition. For more than nine decades, Grupo Gourmets has published more than 200 titles, many of which were translated into English, French, German, and even Japanese, thanks to the sponsorship of major brands, creating an extensive publishing collection aimed at promoting the development of Spanish gastronomy.
