Hope you enjoy the post as I.
The Plaza de España and the skyscrapers that border it such as the Edificio Espana (built 1953 with 117 meters/ 384 feet) see pic, and the Torre Madrid (built 1957 with 142 meters/ 466 feet). The new square occupies a space of more than 70,000 m2 in which all modes of mobility coexist, with pedestrian and cyclist areas located on the surface and underground, through a tunnel that connects Calle Bailén with Calle Ferraz (I did it !) You have the Plaza de España metro (see pic) on lines 3 and 10, with connection with line 2 Noviciado, The main entrance on Plaza de España,is located on the eastern corner of the square as well as many bus lines. parking or aparcamiento EMT Plaza España ,entrance by no 18 facing the edificio Torre de Madrid , A bit further you have the Onepark – Estacionamiento Madrid – Plaza España by calle de San Bernardino, 4,. The station is located on Line 3 between Ventura Rodríguez towards Moncloa, and Callao towards El Casar, and on Line 10 between Tribunal towards Hospital Infanta Sofía, and Príncipe Pío towards Puerta del Sur. The platforms for Line 3 are located under Calle de la Princesa, and those for Line 10 are located at a greater depth under Calle de los Reyes, The station opened on July 15, 1941, with the opening of the extension of Line 3 between Sol and Argüelles. Line 10 opened on February 4, 1961, with Plaza de España as its terminus. The station has five entrances, one from Plaza de España and two from Gran Vía, as well as two direct elevator accesses from the outside. Many times came here with my dear late mom Gladys, and dad Elio to seek history of our Spain, and play and get some refreshing afternoon splash on the fountain , and more… All again repeated bringing my girlfriend and the then dear late wife Martine, as well as the boys. Always in our hearts.

The Calle de Postas is located in the Sol neighborhood of the Centro district of Madrid. It runs Calle Esparteros to its beginning at Calle Mayor to calle Zaragoza , next to the Plaza Mayor. It owes its name to the fact that in ancient times it was the traditional meeting and departure point for the post coaches leaving the Court for different points of Spain, as the original Post Office was located here in the 16C. You can reach this street by many means such as bus Lines 001, 002, 1, 2, 3, 46, 74, as the ones I have used ,and Metro lines 1,2,and 3 Sol station, Also, Cercanías trains C3, C3a and C4 at Sol station, We love to come here as we found the Amorino Gelato italian ice cream at No 3, had indulge in the Flamenco Madrid | Cardamom at No. 4. Its past is documented in 1620 with a building permit to widen the street. At No 31 (new no, 32) stood the Casa de Postas, which had on its portico the painting legendary in miracles and whims of an image of the Virgin of Solitude. At No 17, on the corner of Calle Marqués Viudo de Pontejos, is the traditional Posada del Peine, one of the oldest examples of polychrome tilework in Madrid. The hotel it houses, completely renovated inside, is heir to a long tradition that dates back to 1610, and to the union of three properties over the centuries. The inn also featured in the acceptance speech of Nobel Prize winner Camilo José Cela to the Spanish Academy. In the midst of this picturesque commercial melting pot, the Cine Postas was located at Nos 7 and 9 since 1948, considered by chroniclers as one of the most shady in Madrid, which after degenerating into “Sala X” for a few decades ended up converted into the inevitable souvenir shop for tourists. Even at the beginning of the 21C, more or less old shops survive, such as “Joyería y Relojería Santos”, installed since 1956 at No 21. More traditional is the blanket store “La Camerana” at No 16, founded by Basilio Sánchez Pérez from La Rioja in 1854. But the jewel in the crown is the unique store “El Ángel” (Sobrinos de Pérez or Perez ‘s nephews),at No 6 dedicated to sacred art since 1867 and founded by two other Riojans, Basilio and Leoncio Pérez. Its façade measures just 3 meters and 11 centimeters, making it the third narrowest building in the center of Madrid. For Galdosists, it is one of the emblematic streets of Madrid that Benito Pérez Galdós universalized in his Contemporary Spanish Novels. The Calle de Postas, due to its presence and influence on Galdós’ work, has merited the attention and study of renowned Galdosists. In this commercial hub, the cradle of the 19C Madrid bourgeoisie, Galdós forged the universal history of Fortunata and Jacinta.

The Paseo de la Castellana , commonly known as La Castellana, is one of the longest and widest avenues of Madrid with 6 km of palaces and towers. It is named after an old Castellana fountain that used to exist in Plaza de Castilla from a stream starting in the Plaza Gregorio Marañon. It starts at Plaza de Colón, passes through the Nuevos Ministerios, Plaza de Lima, Plaza de Cuzco, Plaza de Castilla, and ends near the Nudo Norte (North Junction), connecting with the M-30 and the road to Colmenar Viejo. The Paseo de la Castellana is the continuation of Paseo de Recoletos and Paseo del Prado, and these three avenues vertebrate the north-south axis of the city. Here you have the supreme Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, home of the best of all times, Real Madrid CF! It entered service at the beginning of the 20C, and by early 21C consisted of 6 central lanes or main road, and 4 lateral service roads, Its extension to the north to Fuencarral is planned, within the urban project known as “Madrid Nuevo Norte”.
