One of the great architectural and historical cities of my Spain. I have several posts on it but found me ,again, several pictures in my cd rom vault, that need to be in my blog for you and me, Of course, this is Alcalà de Henares in the Comunidad de Madrid.  Always brings me back memories. Let me tell you again on the heritage of Alcalà de Henares ,part IV !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The Colegio de San Jerónimo o Trilingüe   joins the Colegio Mayor through the continuous courtyard. Its Renaissance patio houses, in one of its bays, the auditorium. The area where the presentation of the Cervantes Prize is held annually. The origin of this school goes back to the early days of the university. At the end of the 16C the current building was built. From 1929 it houses the Parador (lodgings) of tourism known as the Hostería del Estudiante.

The Convento del Corpus Christi or Corpus Christi Convent is located in the Plaza de los Doctrinos. It was founded in 1591, and was popularly known as “Afuera” (Outside) because it was located outside the city walls, at the Puerta de Aguadores. The building, attributed to Fray Alberto de la Madre de Dios, reflects 17C Madrid architecture. The cloister houses an exceptional collection of works of art such as a bust of Our Lady of Sorrows by Pedro de Mena; two urns with busts of Our Lady of Sorrows and the Ecce Homo by the same artist; an Immaculate Conception and a Saint Teresa by the school of Gregorio Fernández, He is credited with codifying the iconography of Saint Teresa, also depicted by Alonso del Arco in the painting entitled Ecstasy of Saint Teresa, which is also among the original possessions of this convent. Also a portrait of the Marchioness of Mondéjar, patron saint of the convent. In addition to all this, there are paintings, chasubles, reliquaries, and goldsmithing. The Carmelite Nuns outside also keep numerous mementos of Saint Teresa of Ávila, such as her silver-covered crucifix, several letters written by her, and a crosier that also belonged to her, and fourteen handwritten letters.
