Fond memories of this one, the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, opened in 1972 at 249 Windward Passage , The aquarium is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of sick and injured marine animals, public education, conservation, and research. The aquarium is most famous for Winter the dolphin. Rescued as a calf in 2005, Winter was one of the first dolphins to have been fitted with a prosthetic tail after losing it due to entanglement in a crab trap.
You would love a run to French-Canadian own the Frenchy’s Original Cafe at 41 Baymont St,now with several branches, For shopping go to Westfield Countryside Mall, at 27001 US Hwy 19 N , The recreation is tops here too, we have fond of Joe DiMaggio Fields at 2450 Drew St with a variety of fields for baseball and softball enthusiasts. Name after former local resident and great baseball player, Another nice cultural spot of visiting was the Capitoal Theatre which opened March 21, 1921. The theatre was renovated in 1962 , and in January 2009, the City of Clearwater and Ruth Eckerd Hall (gave name to local college in St Pete) joined forces to purchase the theatre , Again, renovation and expansion began in 2012 and was completed in 2013, In 2019, was renamed the Nancy and David Bilheimer Capitol Theatre, Still there !!
One major park with enjoy and even many walks with then girlfriend from PA (was studying at USF Tampa) was Sand Key Parkat 1060 Gulf Blvd, consists of both a park and a beach. There are various nature trails ,and on the beach there are lifeguards on a daily basis and one can rent umbrellas, cabanas and kayaks. There are outdoors showers and bath houses also. Besides the beach there is also a salt marsh with benches to view the various waterfowl. And, also shelters and grills that can be reserved , Another used to frequent on my trips there and stays as with company was the City center, Coachman Park. This 19-acre park boasts wide green spaces, a state-of-the-art music venue and a variety of exciting amenities offering a scenic overview of the park and Memorial Causeway Bridge. The cascading waterfalls and shaded seating areas create the perfect place for relaxation and reflection ,This scenic body of water stretches 320 feet, boasts two impressive fountains and a charming pedestrian bridge. The pirate-themed playground, which features two towering climbing structures, slides and a thrilling catwalk. The adjacent year-round splash pad is the perfect solution, complete with 68 nozzles and four vertical fountains , The Green!;this spacious four-acre grassy open space is perfect for all kinds of gatherings and activities. Located inside the green, Coachman Gardens is a peaceful, passive park area with lush vegetation. The Bay Walk Promenade is a wide pedestrian area that boasts stunning Clearwater gas-lit public art displays and towering Florida palm trees. The BayCare Sound is a state-of-the-art facility that has 4,000 covered seats, ensuring an electrifying atmosphere for every event. The Sound offers an exceptional viewing experience on the waterfront. And very romantic ….
A bit of history tell us that the territories that form the city were inhabited by the Tocobaga people. In 1835 the United States Army began the construction of an advanced fort during the Seminole indian wars, which was called Fort Harrison, in honor of William Henry Harrison, the ninth president of the United States, During the American Civil War, Union gunboats repeatedly raided the community’s supplies, as most of the able-bodied men were away fighting for the Confederate Army, Clearwater was incorporated in 1891, In 1915, a bridge was built across Clearwater Harbor, joining the city with Clearwater Beach to the west. Clearwater Beach, although located on a separate barrier island, belongs to the city of Clearwater and fronts the Gulf of Mexico , During WWII, Clearwater became a major training base for US troops destined for Europe and the Pacific. Virtually every hotel in the area, including the Belleview Biltmore and the Fort Harrison Hotel, was used as a barracks for new recruits , The name “Clear Water” is thought to have come from a fresh water spring flowing from near where the old City Hall building was located. There were many other freshwater springs that dotted the bluff, many in the bay or harbor itself.

Again, hope you enjoy the post on this is Clearwater/Clearwater Beach !!! as I.
And remember, happy travels, good health, and many cheers to all !!! This is Clearwater/Clearwater Beach !!!
I am back at you with my dear Florida, Again, found me an older paper picture that was mix in with another post and decided this area City deserves a post of its own, It is here for the memories of always, and family nearby now. This is a marvel beautiful area that should be visited more me think, Therefore, here is my take on this is Clearwater/Clearwater Beach !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.
The City of Clearwater Beach is on a barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico in Pinellas county, of the State of Florida, USA, Located west of the Intracoastal Waterway by way of the Clearwater Memorial Causeway from the rest of the City of Clearwater, of which it belongs, It is known for by the white sand beaches stretching 4 km (2,5 mi) along the Gulf of Mexico, It is about 30 km (20 mi) from the Tampa International airport and 40 km (25 mi) from downtown center of Tampa, The way we used to come was from Ormond Beach and we took the I-4 expressway towards Tampa ,here get on the expressway 275 direction St Petersburgh but turn right into SR 60 direction Clearwater Beach and go over the W Courtney Campbell Causeway bridge go all the way passing another bridge the Clearwater Memorial Causeway into Clearwater Beach , All gorgeous ride over water, We love the road warrior rides into it !! My recollection tells me our fav parking was the municipal marina at 25 Causeway Blvd, The full services marina is linked on the south by a short bridge to another barrier island called Sand Key ; where there is surfing and beach at Sand Key park. A wonderful spot of many family gathering over the years ! Memories forever.
My favorite place to walk on was around the City marina, It’s like a shopping mall for water sports. Go on to Coronado Drive and into the Pier 60, quiet in the waking hours with the studied casting of early anglers and the awkward begging of big-footed, big-mouthed pelicans. By sunset, the quiet will have dissipated to the festive strains of musicians, the chatter of artisan vendors, the giggle of children on the playground, Just laidback real Florida living away from the big crowds of the eastern seaboard , Pier 60, at 7 Causeway Blvd is ideally located on world-renowned sparkling beach. It is one of the best-equipped and most attractive fishing piers in Florida. It offers access to fishing activities, fine dining, shopping, entertainment and outstanding white sandy beaches. Also, music festival , artisanal showcase from many artists, Clearwater Beach has consistently been ranked best beach by various organizations and has garnered a reputation as an ideal vacation destination for people of all ages from all around the world. Clearwater Beach was just named the No 1 Beach in the South by USA Today, and has been named America’s No. 1 Beach several times in recent years. Travel + Leisure’s list of The 14 Best Beaches in Florida in 2021. If Clearwater Beach were a person, they’d be a sunkissed, energetic beach lover who’d never met a stranger. This active, social beach is likely to be bustling when you visit from morning walkers to mid-day beach volleyball games. With its soft, sugar-white sands and clear blue-green waters, it’s no wonder this beach was named Tripadvisor’s No 1 Beach in the USA in 2019, 2018 and 2016.
