In the beginning, the area was populated by the indigenous that in the iron age already maintained contact with Phoenician traders. The Greeks made small trips until at the end they were left and started the population. Its name was “Emporion” . The Romans arrived on 218 BC. In the 195 AC they mount a military camp and a time after ,the city. It became an important trade port until the rest of cities came like Girona, Bercino, etc.. The people abandoned it until just staying a village of fishermen as Saint. Martin of Empúries.
You will be able to park the car very close to the ruins. But not before having acquired their entrance tickets which, includes, the visit of the archaeological museum. The location is at Ruïnes d’Empúries Carrer Puig i Cadafalch, s/n, 17130 L’Escala, Girona.

Well as young men are not into museums , he just walked around it and gladly took one picture was able to find out from where, This is the story….
Empuries was a Greek-Roman old port, located in the town of L’Escala, near Girona, It was founded around 580 BC. by phocenes colonists, as a counter emporion , the city was then occupied by the Romans, and almost abandoned at the top of the Middle Ages, after giving its name to the county of Empúries. At that time, it was located favorably at the mouth of the Fluvia (river) and very close to the branch of different commercial routes. The natural basins in front of Emporion offered protection to the commercial boats. From the city of the 6C BC, there is no stone left. In its place, is today the village of Martí d’Empuries (Saint Martin), very popular for visits with its restored center and the late-Gothic church. The sandy beach located just in front is wonderful and perfectly maintained.
In the Ciudad Griega or Greek city ,we have the origin of the metal factory, the walls, because there is the temple of Asklepios, its fishing factory, as was a Greek house, the market, and many other curiosities of the city., The walls of the Greek City, and the Temple of Asklepiós (see pic) , Separating the circuit of the Greek City with the Ciudad Romana or Roman City we find the museum. Leaving from the museum we continued behind the same and we go up stairs, which brings us to the Roman City. During the route we find: the public termes baths, the Forum, the amphitheater, as was a Roman house, the Roman wall, etc.
