The Parish Church del Santísimo Sacramento of Madrid, part II !!

We were back to my dear Spain again !! love it !! We came by car of course and took time to see some new towns with my sons and our dog Rex ! I rented a small house in a off the beaten path country town that was just perfect ! I like to continue the saga of our new road warrior experiences even if now with less in our family,This post is on my latest road warrior tour of wonderful sublime back to Madrid, Therefore, let me tell you about the Parish Church del Santísimo Sacramento of Madrid, part II !! Hope you enjoy the post as I. This is Madrid capital of the province and community of Madrid as well as the kingdom of Spain, All central all comes and leaves from here in my dear Spain, A must to visit at least once in your lifetime or more once bitten with the bug as from Madrid to heaven and a hole in the sky to look down on it everyday ! Once again, thrill to be back to my Madrid and this year twice !! Love it !!! Only 202 km from our rental house in Velliza down on the A62, A6, and this time to the M500 and M30 to the Retiro park and our parking at Parking Avenida del Mediterraneo 28 near metro bus Conde de Casal and the Retiro park, From here back to Centro or old town to see more of my Madrid ! I happened to be by the area quite a bit in the last 10 years, and my objective each time is to get to the Retiro park (see posts) just ahead; sometimes indulging in eating of Cerveceria Cruz Blanca (see post). One day, I just happened to gazed on the side street and saw this church. Nice find I said, and took a peek. One nice highlight of the visit and one more monument of my dear Madrid known. Let me share it with all again on this post. The Parish Church del Santísimo Sacramento  or Holy Sacrament is located in the upper part of the Retiro Park on Calle Sainz de Baranda, 3, The church was inaugurated in 1970 under a completely modern and avant-garde style. It consists of a single large singular gabled nave on whose exterior pediment various decorative motifs can be seen. Access is via a lintel door whose pediment depicts the Pantocrator. The portal is flanked by two large pyramidal towers crowned with two crosses. Inside, the texture of the ceiling stands out, playing with silhouettes and shadows, leading the gaze to the main altar, where there is a more classical image of Jesus. There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting. Moving average a home every 5.5 years hopefully this will be my last. Cheers All rights reserved.
