The City of Salamanca is capital of the province of Salama nca located in the Autonomous Community of Castilla y León, and in the kingdom of Spain. In 1988, the Old City was declared a World Heritage for UNESCO, The City is located 109 km from Ávila, 121 km from Valladolid, 123 km from Portugal and 214 km from Madrid.

This visit was not expected as on our walking tour of the city we came upon this nice entrance building as we approached it found out was the museum and we got in for free! A worthy stop even paying, me think,

The Museo de Salamanca, located at Patio de Escuelas, 7, The building is an ancient stately palace belonging to the Family Abarca, built in Gothic style in the 15C. The Palacio de los Abarca-Alcaraz is also known as the house of the Queen’s doctors exhibits collections in a structure divided into three sections: archeology, fine arts and ethnology. The art collection caused by confiscation is completed with deposits of the Prado Museum, of the Reina Sofía National Art Center Museum, of the Church, as well as with works donated by individuals.

I enjoy the sculptures and stones slabs and animals especially the Verraco of stone or the verracos literally ‘boar’, in the Iberian peninsula are the Vettone’s  granite  megalithic  monuments, sculptures of animals as found in the west of the Iberian meseta, the high central plain of the Iberian peninsula.
