I like this restaurant both in American and Europe many family memorable moments in them, Glad to have one in my dear Madrid so we can relive memories of always, I like to update this older post with new text and links for you and me, Therefore, here is my take on the TGI Fridays of Madrid !!! Now this goes way back in my Florida USA days, and when came to visit my Madrid did not see any of them talking back to the 1970’s. Over the years gotten use to them in America and was a great place to hang out. Eventually, caught up with them when visiting my other love Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium and in the La Esquina del Bernabeu and saw it right next door! I stop by once in a while over time , until they close this spot due to the renovation in the stadium.

My latest coming into this chain was with my sons at Calle Vírgen de los Peligros , 1 corner with Calle de Alcalá 21 . Near metro Sevilla and close by to Puerta del Sol, There are published other sites but not been to these at Calle Gran Vía, 76, Av. de Monforte de Lemos, and 36 Paseo de La Habana, 17.

A bit of history I like tell us that TGIFriday’s began as an American chain of restaurants founded in 1965 and currently has more than 900 establishments in 60 countries. The first establishment was opened on March 15, 1965 by Alan Stillman, an entrepreneur from the East Side of Manhattan ,New York who had designed a hospitality business where single people in the area, and especially women, could socialize in an informal environment. He bought and reformed a First Avenue pub, and changed its name to «TGI Fridays » or Thanks God is Fridays! In 1975, when the brand already had 12 restos in nine states, the Carlson Companies group took over T.G.I. Friday’s. In 2014, Carlson Companies sold the multinational to the investment fund Sentinel Capital and now TGIFridays is part of Grupo VIPS. Today it has 13 restaurants in Spain.

T.G.I. Friday’s is characterized by its restaurant, especially oriented to American cuisine, as well as its bar with a selection of cocktails and alcoholic beverages. The group does not specialize in a specific product, with a menu that includes starters, hamburgers, ribs, chicken wings, red meat and tex-mex dishes. The company is especially known for its cocktails, whose offer varies by country, It was in 1992 when TGI Friday’s landed in Spain specifically in Madrid with the inauguration of the first restaurant in the La Esquina del Bernabéu shopping center, right next to Santiago Bernabeu stadium of my Real Madrid. It was here that I tried it first in Madrid.

TGI Fridays is currently controlled by private equity firm TriArtisan Advisors (USA) , which also has ownership stakes in P.F. Chang’s and Hooters. After the deal is done, Hostmore (UK) will hold a 36% ownership stake, with shareholders holding the other 64%. The chain in Spain is owned by the Alsea groupa very large international company that has many brands under its umbrella including Ginos, VIPS and Dominos. Webpage :https://www.alsea.net/our-brands

There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
