We are back to my dear Spain again !! love it !! We came by car of course and took time to see new areas and old repeat with some of them as introduction to my sons and our dog Rex ! I came into Rueda after several years and it was sublime ! I like to continue my road warrior stories this time in Rueda. Therefore, here is my take on the monuments of Rueda !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.
The town of Rueda is located in the province of Valladolid and the autonomous community of Castilla y Léon in the kingdom of Spain, It is 43 km from Valladolid City ,22 km from our rental house in Velliza, and 172 km from Madrid, We walked all over the small town, and saw wonderful monuments. I like to keep them in my blog for the memories of always and return, eventually.
The Ermita del Cristo de las Batallas or hermitage of the Christ of the battles is an original baroque construction of octagonal plant, to which a square plant dressing was added with two bodies made in brick on the masonry base and square dome. It was built in 1726. The main altarpiece of a single body, which is topped by a semicircular attic with a crucified Christ with the invocation of the battles of the 17C, which used to have at his feet the bust of the Dolorosa Virgin of the 18C. There is a beautiful Cruz de Calvario or calvary Cross with the date of 1591 at its base. The hermitage of the Christ of the Battles, also called the hermitage of the humiller,(Humilladero) is known with the appellation of La Cuba and this nickname is that they put their wine in a big barrel or cuba and what they obtained from their sale, were for building the hermitage, which is a great anecdote to tell all visitors who approach this beautiful hermitage.

The Church Santa María de la Asunción acquired absolute preponderance, which marks the baroque character of the construction carried out on the previous Renaissance church, when this small one remained among other reasons for the increase in population. The previous church only the bell tower and an adjacent chapel remains. It was built between 1738 and 1747 and is one of the best architectural samples of the 18C in the province of Valladolid. The central nave cover is highlighted, replacing the original armor with another that has reached the present day.

Outside, the church was built with brick on a stone socket. Both the baroque cover and the five bodies tower are remarkable, attached to the church with a curious situation between the epistle nerf and the arm of the cruise on the same side. It shows on the main facade the two circular towers that shows in all its splendor, topped with two slate spyts included in its upper body in central niche with an image of the Virgin of the Assumption), surrounded by several winged figures of seraphims. The tower is also built in brick, with five bodies.

The Church Santa María de la Asunción has three nerfs, notably differentiating in width and height the central nave of the two sides. In a longitudinal direction, the inner space is four sections and large cruise that is finished off with the main chapel housed in the head and flanked by two chapels, of approximately half of width that it is covered. Each of the spaces that make up the sections with vaults are covered Baroque, of different geometric layout in central nave and side, an octagonal cimborrio rises, highlighting abroad due to its important volume. The main chapel is covered with a cannon vault, as well as that of the first section on the choir.
