We are back to my dear Spain again !! love it !! We came by car of course and took time to see new areas and old repeat with some of them as introduction to my sons and our dog Rex ! I came into Medina del Campo after several years and it was sublime ! I like to continue my road warrior stories this time in Medina del Campo, Therefore, here is my take on the Palacio Real Testamentario of Medina del Campo !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I,

The City of Medina del Campo is located in the province of Valladolid and the autonomous community of Castilla y Léon in the kingdom of Spain, It is 54 km from Valladolid City , 42 km from our rental house in Velliza, and 160 km from Madrid, I came here to see the palace of Queen Isabel I the Catholic, a must to see!
The Palacio Real de los Reyes Católicos o Palacio Real Testamentario, (Royal Testament Palace) is located at the Plaza Mayor de la Hispanidad, 2 of Medina del Campo, Originally built in the 14C, although it was extended several times. It was Mudejar style, but very little is preserved from the original building. The current building is a didactic recreation that houses the interpretation center of the historical character of Queen Isabel (Elizabeth) I La Católica. The palace was ordered to be built by the Catholic Monarchs and witnessed many of the important historical events that took place in Medina del Campo. In this palace, Queen Isabel La Católica wrote her will and last testament ,and died in 1504.

The first news of the palace correspond to 1335, being very numerous the references to the palace in the following decades, under the Transtamara (family from which Isabel comes from), on the occasion of the multiple stays of the kings in Medina, in their “houses” next to the Plaza del del Mercado today Plaza Mayor de la Hispanidad. At the end of the 15C and the beginning of the 16C, Fernando de Aragón (her husband) promoted an important transformation of the palace providing it with its grandiosity. In 1504, important conditioning works were carried out. The noble part of the current building is limited to the set built towards the square, currently leaving some rehabilitated units and some walls where the garden was located, few remains of whatever the residence of the Catholic Monarchs in the town of Medina de Campo.

What is there today house the interpretation center about Queen Isabel I the Catholic. Throughout its rooms, visitors discover this important historical character and her time, paying special attention to the testament and codicil of the queen and the third trip of Christopher Columbus. It was inaugurated on November 26, 2003.

It shows the visitor a global vision of the meaning and historical importance of Queen Isabel I; through videos and interactive, different aspects of their vital experience are shown such as her childhood and youth, her reign, her religiosity, etc., a replica of the will and codicil is shown supported by an interactive that deepens its contents and finally recreate the picture of Eduardos Rosales the Testament of Isabel la Católica. The center was expanded in 2007 with an interactive room that explains the details of the third trip that Cristóbal Colón (Columbus) made to America since in this Royal Palace of Medina del Campo, it is the place where the Admiral organized with the Catholic Monarchs said trip.
