We are back to my dear Spain again !! love it !! We came by car of course and took time to see new areas and old repeat with some of them as introduction to my sons and our dog Rex ! I came into Medina del Campo after several years and it was sublime ! I like to continue my road warrior stories this time in Medina del Campo, Therefore, here is my take on the Church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen of Medina del Campo !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The City of Medina del Campo is located in the province of Valladolid and the autonomous community of Castilla y Léon in the kingdom of Spain, It is 54 km from Valladolid City , 42 km from our rental house in Velliza, and 160 km from Madrid. This is a very nice church, and sadly very little written on it, I was glad to come in and see it.
The Church of the Immaculate Conception, of the barefoot Carmelites of Medina del Campo, has become a archdiocesan sanctuary of Nuestra Señora del Carmen, after the signing of the corresponding Archbishopal resolution ;been based on the Marian activities carried out by the titular order, among which are the Daily of the Rosary pray The existence of a brotherhood in honor of such an Marian invocation, dated in 1891, after the confiscation, when rescuing the sacred property the Carmelitan order., The foundation of the order here was on October 7, 1645 , and the church is located on the plaza San Juan de la Cruz, 1,

The barefoot Carmelites consider Santa Teresa de Jesús and San Juan de la Cruz as its founders. Its own charism is fundamentally a grace, which drives us, in a fraternal communion of life, to the mysterious union with God , by the path of contemplation and of the apostolic activity indissolubly twinned to the service of the Church.
The head of the convent was the body of Christ. The church was located outside the town center in the so -called “Dueñas Alquería”. It moved on April 2, 1649 within the city in the Calle Santiago. It was bequeathed to be a school of arts (philosophy) for young Carmelite students. Medina del Campo appreciate the barefoot and did not spare their alms, and even, later, sustain the College of Arts, and came to form a rather rich library from 1754.

The convent was lost with the exclaustration of 1835. The convent became a tissue factory. With it, all other communities that were from men also disappeared, which have not been established again. Our religious returned to Medina del Campo in 1891, building a convent with the former Church of Agustinas Recoletas, today of our Barefoot. Here is the Humanities Preparatory College .In 1894 the house became a preparatory school in the province of San Elías de Castilla, a seminar that has come to this day. except for a brief period of time that was installed in Valladolid (1917-1922). In 1970 a new structure was created in what was a school patio, which currently serves as an school room, described as a functional and modern building, with hardly any brick and if a lot of sheet and glass. This same year of 1970 was officially recognized as a Superior College, with the denomination of “San Juan de la Cruz”. The school is currently open to external students of the region.
