The Church of El Salvador and al. of Simancas !!!

We are back to my dear Spain again !! love it !! We came by car of course and took time to see new areas and old repeat with some of them as introduction to my sons and our dog Rex ! I came into Simancas for the first time! and it was sublime ! I like to continue my road warrior stories this time in Simancas, Therefore, here is my take on the Church of El Salvador and al. of Simancas !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The town of Simancas is located in the province of Valladolid and the autonomous community of Castilla y Léon in the kingdom of Spain, It is 15 km from Valladolid City ,11 km from our rental house in Velliza, and 199 km from Madrid, We walked all over the small town, and saw wonderful monuments. I like to keep them in my blog for the memories of always and return, eventually.

The Church of El Salvador or Savior even being of medieval origin, most of the it that is preserved today is from the 16C, of aesthetics that mixes the Gothic and the Renaissance. It is located on a monumental staircase on the calle Atrio. Of its Romanesque origins only the tower of the 12C is preserved, the rest is from the 16C. The interior is a living room, with three nerfs covered in all its sections with starry cruise vaults. It retains important altarpieces, sizes, paintings and a collection of silver liturgical goldsmith, of the 16C and 18C. Two altarpieces are highlighted ; the elderly, plateresco, and that of the resurrection, renaissance, as well as a processional cross carved in silver. Attached to the churh is a cloister, formed by simple half -point arcades sustained by columns of shaft and straight capitel, built, like the rest of the building, is from the 16C, As well as a crying relief over the death of Christ. In the Chapel of the Gallos de Andrada there is an altarpiece of the 19C. During the summer months the tourism office works, it can be visited, as well as the rest of the year contacting the City Hall.

Within this urban center, it is distinguished splendidly, the facade of the City Council, (ayuntamiento or City hall) in the neoclassical style of the 18C and the facade of the hospital of Renaissance style of the 16C, In front of the City Council, a street arises that about a hundred meters ceases to exist to show us a beautiful and evocative viewpoint. A viewpoint that in clear days, not only serves to see what we have more immediate as the incredible riverbank of Pisuerga can be, but we must look at that horizon that lets contemplate the silhouette of the central mountain range with summits such as of Peñalar. Precisely on the riverbank of Pisuerga, another of the main constructions, the medieval bridge, which with its seventeen arches achieves cross from one edge to another. (No pics).

Simancas is a place where fun and tranquility are insured. Tranquillity which shows and palpates around that wonderful river that is the Pisuerga, Also a place of great gastronomic tradition, which is seen
reinforced by the existence of many restaurants that serve mostly kitchen Castilian,

Simancas The former Roman city of Septimoncas, which by derivation has resulted in name we know today, of Simancas a  place of reference in history not only from Valladolid, but from Castilla y León and Spain. The first thing that catches our attention, is the urban team that is incredibly  elevates on a small mound that is flat and dropped on one of its slopes towards the shore of the Pisuerga river.

Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
