The City of Valladolid is in the province of Valladolid, in the Autonomous Community of Castilla y Léon, only 202 km from from Madrid. Another must to come by me is this house museum for the story of Don Juan Tenorio, For those not into the Spanish language this is briefly a story of a romantic drama published in 1844 ,and it goes as some time ago Don Juan and Don Luis Mejía had made a double commitment, which was about “who of both knew how to work worse, with better fortune, within one year” and “who of the two beat more duels and who seduced more maidens. The rivals tell the dead in battle (Don Luis 23, Don Juan 32) and the seduced women (Don Luis 56, Don Juan 72). At the end of Don Juan is as winner ok

The Casa Museo Zorrilla is the property in which the romantic poet was born on February 21, 1817. It is a house rented by José Zorrilla’s parents to the Marquis de Revilla and is located on Calle Fray Luis de Granada 1, Zorrilla lived during the first seven years of his life and, briefly, on his return to Valladolid in 1866 after his return from Mexico. When he returned on the occasion of his appointment as “official chronicler of Valladolid” .

After his death, the Valladolid City Council decided to acquire the property in 1917 to honor the poet’s memory, turning it into a museum house. The ground floor was enabled as a library, and in 1895 a commemorative tombstone was placed on its facade with a poet bust, The house is of simple appearance and structure, it consists of two floors, basement and garden. It preserved some original furniture of the poet, such as his desk, who were donated by his widow. The furnishing aims to collect the atmosphere of the time in which the poet’s life in the City in the 19C, I remembered him well by reading and seeing the film of Don Juan Tenorio

Among the paintings that decorate the walls of the main floor are a great painting entitled the La llegada al campamento of Ruiz de Valdivia, which represents a Carlist war scene; una Vista de Sevilla , attributed to the painter Rafael Romero Barros; Don Quijote enfermo of Miguel Jadraque, made in 1905; A portrait of the poet painted by Ángel Díaz Sánchez and another canvas showing the exterior appearance of the church of La Antigua, His face by the sculptor Aurelio Rodríguez-Vicente Carretero and which was used to carry out the poet monument in the Plaza de Zorrilla

The Casa Museo Zorrilla, also pays tribute to Narciso Alonso Cortés, a great scholar of the poet and essential fencer of the museum throughout the 20C; and it promotes cultural programs and initiatives, focused on the book, literature, poetry and theater, with special attention to romanticism and the figure of José Zorrilla. Likewise, the house is the headquarters of the Center for Publications and Programs for the Promotion of the Book, of the City of Valladolid; of the ‘Valladolid Lyrics Warm’ program; and hosts a small institutional bookstore, with publications of Valladolid theme.

The city of Valladolid ,also, honors hime with the monument to José Zorrilla, a bronze sculpture with the base of granite stone dedicated to the romantic poet José Zorrilla. The project contest was convened in the Plaza Zorrilla, the contest was unanimously awarded to Aurelio Rodríguez. The sculptor resided in Madrid and had frequented the poet during the last years of the latter. In 1893 he was able to obtain his mortuary mask that served as a mold for the sculpture, this mask is now preserved in the Casa Museo Zorrilla. The inauguration of the monument occurred on September 14, 1900, the pedestal consists of two limestone bodies and a granite socket. The upper body is a truncated cone crowned with frieze and a circular capitel decorated with eight bronze flowers. In the frieze is the registration: “To the poet Zorrilla.” The lower body has inscriptions with the birth and death dates of the writer along with titles of some of his works: Cantos del Trovador, Don Juan Tenorio, Granada, and the dedication accompanied by the Valladolid City shield.
