We are back to my dear Spain again !! love it !! We came by car of course and took time to see new areas and old repeat with some of them as introduction to my sons and our dog Rex ! I came into Valladolid after several years and it was sublime ! I like to continue my road warrior stories with Valladolid, Therefore, here is my take on the Mercado de Val of Valladolid !!! Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The city of Valladolid is in the province of Valladolid, in the Autonomous Community of Castilla y Léon, only 202 km from from Madrid. in our walking warrior mode we came across a familiar spot , a market! and of course, we needed to check it out. Turn out to be pretty nice interesting worth a repeat, eventually.
On the forecourt of San Benito Church (see post) at Calle Sandoval, 2 , there is the Mercado del Val , the oldest market that is preserved in the city is inspired by Les Halles in Paris, and was built between 1878 and 1882 , it is a completely metallic structure ship, with a rectangular corner plant a symbol of architectural fashion that strikes the end of the century with its steel skeletons. It was in 1877 that the town hall appointed an architect to create three new markets. The construction of the one that interests us today, the smallest of the three, begins in 1878. The 112 -meter long juggernaut takes almost four years to emerge. It was completed in 1882. The market experienced a first major project in 1900, at dawn of the 20C. We then proceed to dismantle the central dome which, however, gave a certain style to the building. A large renovation of the premises was carried out in 1981. After thirty years of operation, the market again closed their doors, in 2013 , and reopened on November 30, 2016.

With the remodeling of the mercado de Val, it was filled with new proposals and very varied food stalls. These food stalls are the soul of the market, and offer a varied offer that goes from the most typical products of Valladolid to delicacies from other places. The market is undoubtedly one of the best sites to go tapas in the city. While their positions are not restaurants to use, they offer all kinds of drinks, tapas and portions that will delight anyone.
