We are back to my dear Spain again !! love it !! We came by car of course and took time to see new areas and old repeat with some of them as introduction to my sons and our dog Rex ! I came into Valladolid after several years and it was sublime ! The City of Valladolid is in the province of Valladolid, in the Autonomous Community of Castilla y Léon, only 202 km from from Madrid. This was a surprise visit and to me the best in the city, worth coming back for me, me think.

The Iglesia penitencial de Nuestra Señora de las Angustias or best translated as Penitential Church of Our Lady of the Anguish is located in the center of the city ,The church is property and headquarters of the illustrious penitential brotherhood of Our Lady of Angustias one of the oldest brotherhoods of Holy Week in Valladolid.

The history of this church is linked to that of its brotherhood, founded before in 1536, at the end of the 16C the brotherhood moves to the current church, in front of the former Palace of the Admiral, on which the Calderón Theater,(see post), It consists of two bodies, the lower arch of the triumph,the ascension ordination of the orders that already gives Vitruvio (Roman Architect), In 1604 is concluded its construction, with the hiring of the sculptures of the facade, to be completed in September 1606. The entrance to this room, located on the side, It consists of a low body, also in the form of a triumph, with the great door for the steps, and a high one, in which the balcony is, for the use of the brotherhoods.

The interior is organized in a two -sections nerf, with edge vault, with side chapels between the buttresses and cruise with a medium orange and flashlight dome. We can find in the main altarpiece of the presbytery the mystery of the Annunciation, the work of Francisco de Rincón, the sculptural part, while the assembly is by Cristóbal Velázquez based on Juan de Natles models. The altarpiece combines, in its iconographic program , sculpture with recently discovered paintings of faith and charity, in addition to strength and prudence. One of the side chapels is larger than the rest. This chapel, built at the beginning of the 18C, shows an interesting eighty space covered with dome and flashlight, which opens another space that serves as a dressing room, where the titular image, Our Lady of Angustias, in polychrome wood, is located, work of the sculptor Juan de Juni, of exceptional quality and one of the best known works of its author. The whole has its sacristy, Steps room, Cabildos Hall, with the processional and corporate dimension of the brotherhood itself. The central sizes of the steps mark the different lateral altarpieces of the church, among which is the Christ of the Carboneros ;also called of the light formerly -, attributed to Francisco de Rincón; The Risen Christ; as well as San Juan and La Magdalena,from the old step of descent, whose central sizes are preserved in the National Sculpture Museum collection.(see post).

Our Lady of Angustias, also called Virgen de los Cuillas, is a venerated Marian invocation in the Church of Our Lady of the Angustias, The lyrics of the Hymn of Coronation, original of Godofredo Garabito: Hail Lady of the Anguish, virgin and mother of the Redeemer, we cry all your children and ask you for your blessing. Valladolid, at your feet singing, on this date of great fervor La Paz humbly asks you and pleading with your great love. Today we acclaim you, queen and lady, before your throne of coronation; Mother and Lady, Saint Mary, First Tabernacle of Conception. Hail, Lady of the Anguish, loving mother of great pain. All your children today acclaim you in your anguish, Mother of God!

Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
