Hope you enjoy the post as I.

The town of Valladolid is in the province of Valladolid, in the Autonomous Community of Castilla y Léon, only 202 km from from Madrid, As doing our walking warrior tour of Valladolid we encounter places not describe elsewhere and off the beaten paths, We took rest here in the shade very nice City park with happy families enjoying the day as us, I like to put some pictures of this park on the Plaza del Poniente.

The main park and a must to see is Campo Grande, It has a triangular shape and 113 379 m² of surface and is limited by the street of the Acera de Recoletos, the Paseo de los Filipinos and the Paseo de Zorrilla. Its origin as a park or as a landscaped area, dates back to 1787, although since the 15C it must be considered as an urban space of great importance. The Campo Grande, known at first as a “Campo de la Verdad ” or field of truth, was created at the end of the 18C, The surroundings of the pond, where you can find a small waterfall. In the pond, the little ones can enjoy an unforgettable experience thanks to the boat ride in which the pleasant boatman will tell them the most fantastic stories. The most famous inhabitants of the Campo Grande are the peacocks, to which you can see walking through all gardens and roads showing their bright and colorful feathers. They are so accustomed to humans, that it is possible to see them very short distance.

The Campo Grande has three birdhouses built in 1914 and 1932 that currently constitute the home of messenger pigeons, pheasants, Japanese roosters and dwarf chickens, among many other birds. The park has a wide variety of trees of more than 60 species, Among which you can see the Chinese palm, the tree of love, the chestnut of the Indies, the cypress of the swamps or the cedar of Lebanon., The Paseo Central is a wide road with trees to the sides that starting in the Plaza de Zorrilla and ending in the Plaza de Colón runs parallel between the street of the Acera de Recoletos and the gardens of the Campo Grande itself. Although its name is Paseo Central, it is not located in the center but on a side of the park. Almost in the center of the park a large square opens with wooden banks throughout its circle, surrounded by good specimens of trees including the cedar of Lebanon, very dear to the peacocks that chose it as a home, In the middle there is an artistic source known as a Fuente de la Fama or fame fountain, A column supports the statue that represents the angel of fame, with inscriptions alluding to the personality of Miguel íscar. The base is octagonal with an outer pylon

The Paseo del Principe is a wide straight road, either on the one that connects the main door located in the Plaza de Zorrilla with the Prince’s door that opens to the Paseo de los Filipinos. It is delimited with bananas tree linked rows and everything is furnished with wooden and lamppost benches, Pergolas adorned by a plant called polygonacea that shades the bar tables that are distributed below. In the center of the square is the ornamental Fuente del Cisne or fountain of the swan. On top and on an islet is the swan that launches water for its peak and six nayades hold fish that expel water jets. Tritons are seen inside the pylon. In the center there are six recorded stones whose registration alternates the Valladolid shield and the date of its construction and on top of cast iron vases. La Faisanera (pheasant’s house)  is the oldest birdhouse that exists in the park; It dates from 1914 and its first inhabitants were the pheasants. It is located near the Paseo de Filipinos. The Palomar (pigeon’s house)  is close to one of the entrances from the Paseo de Zorrilla. It dates from 1932 and it was from the beginning owned by the Castilian Colombian society. Near the Fuente de la Fama there is another larger birdshouse built between the 1930s and 1940s . There is usually a variety of birds, from parakeets to spectacular roosters and exotic chickens.
