Another wonderful experience in my beloved Spain. Driven by it so many times eventually several years back decided to come in and it has been a stop ever since. Jaca in the heart of Aragon! This is a post arisen from the fact ,do not know how missed these pictures in my blog from the start !! I just found them and of course, they need to be in my blog !! Of course, plenty more written on Jaca in my blog. The city is in the province ofHuesca, and autonomous community of Aragon. Therefore, here is my take on the Church of Carmen of Jaca !!! Hope you enjoy this post as I.
The Church of Carmen in Jaca belongs to Carmelite art. This church was built in 1657. It is located on Calle Carmen that converges to Calle Mayor. The entrance to the church is in a manierist style and its inner plant is in the form of Latin cross with chapels on the sides of the altar and two others on the sides of each nave. Its main altar has a beautiful altarpiece describing the delivery of the Holy Scapular by the Virgin to Simon Stock.
This church is the only construction of the former convent of Nuestra Señora del Carmen or Our Lady of Carmen that the Carmelitas Descalzos or Barefoot Carmelites founded in Jaca. It is a Beautiful Sample of the Reflection in the Art of Exaltion of Baroque Spiritality of the Late 17C.The begging order of the barefoot Carmelites had settled in the surrounding jaca in 1597, in the church of Santa María de Mocorones, the current Ermita de la Victoria or hermitage of victory. There they remained until 1614, when they moved to this plot where they founded their monastery and built the church that we see, finished in 1657. Until Mendizábal confiscation, in 1835,(law sep state/church) the church belonged to this congregation. In the 20C, Capuchin monks took care of the church until 1999, except during the Republican period in which they left the city. It currently depends on the Church of Santiago (see post) that is located next to the clock tower (see post).
The Church of Our Lady of Carmen aka Church of Carmen in addition to the magnificent main altarpiece, fully Baroque style, it houses other altarpieces, dated in the 18C and of diverse origin. In the chapels of the header we find the altarpieces of Saint Peter and a Holy Abad, which are originally from the Alta Church of San Juan de la Peña. Others, such as San José and Santiago Peregrino, come from the Parish Church of Ruesta and were brought in 1966. The two statues that were in the side arches of the lower part of the cover, which represented two heroes of holiness of the Carmelite order, had to be removed inside, in 1889, to stop their progressive deterioration.
There you go folks, a wonderful, terrific, no words combination to see inJaca. There are many others do see my blog ! Again;hope you enjoy this post on the Church of Carmen of Jaca as I
And remember, happy travels, good health and many cheers to all !!!
